We started the ambitious journey of trying to raise PE money, purchase an asset, develop it and then sell it...the process began in December, 2016. Four of us began the process and as we went along, we added 5 very talented professionals to the team. We made mistakes along the way and I was especially naive' about the process. Raising money in the environment we were in was next to impossible...we were not successful but boy, did we try! We went to NY, Houston and Dallas and met lots of financial professionals. I had the chance to make lasting friendships with Bernie McCormick, George Davis, Debbie McKay, Lori Mauk, Pat Smith, Raven Goswick, Jim Powers and Larry McFarlin. I developed deep respect for this group and I will forever be thankful for their efforts and having the same dream as me. Even though we were unsuccessful in our overall efforts, my life is much richer and I feel like I've grown as a person because of this experience and more importantly, because of the relationships formed with each of these folks. Since the last update in September, 2017, George Davis decided he wanted to spend more time with his family and at his home on Block Island. He made that decision right before Thanksgiving. We miss George and wish him the best. We continue to look for assets that are not being marketed publicly. This is the key for a new team to receive funding. This process has certainly been challenging and has had highs and lows to say the least. Our team has stayed committed to finding the right asset and eventually, I believe we will. A quick update...Bernie McCormick, Larry McFarlin, George Davis, Pat Smith and I went to NYC the Tuesday after Labor Day. We had the pleasure of meeting with 5 private equity firms. Our presentations were well received. We spent Monday and Tuesday of this week in Houston where we met with 5 private equity firms and RBC. We spent Wednesday in Dallas where we met with 3 additional private equity firms. Again, our presentation was well received and we are encouraged with the progress we've made. I feel very blessed to be working with 8 people whom I respect.
