Severe Weather Possible Friday

The Storm Prediction Center has outlined portions of the Southern Plains and Mid-South in a Day 6 risk area, signaling increasing confidence that strong thunderstorms could develop late this week.

While details will continue to evolve, the environment may support:

• Large hail• Damaging winds• Isolated tornadoes

This is still several days out, so timing, storm mode, and exact impacts will likely change. Now is a good time to review severe weather plans and stay tuned for updates as we get closer.

Severe weather is possible each day this week into the weekend across central parts of the country. Out of these days, Friday has a lot of my attention for a potential high-end severe weather day, with supercells that could produce tornadoes, large hail and damaging winds from late afternoon into the overnight hours across the Plains. 5 DAYS OF SEVERE WEATHER THIS WEEK! Severe weather is likely this first week of March across central and southern parts of the country. The SPC has already outlined five severe risks during this period: I] Tuesday, March 3, II] Wednesday, March 4, III] Thursday, March 5, IV] Friday, March 6, and V] Saturday, March 7. Tornadoes, wind and hail are possible from Wednesday, March 4 through Saturday, March 7. Go ahead prepare of the next couple of days for severe weather: go back over your severe weather plan, clean out the shelters, discuss with your kids the severe weather plan, make sure your severe weather plan includes your pets and have ways to get warnings

YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME!

We have GFS ensemble members with surface lows in the 960s mb across the central U.S. on March 14-15 with bomb cyclone Colorado Low ejection.

This storm system will likely have a tornado event in the large warm sector as well as a blizzard on the cold side, as happens often during the early spring. The deepest Colorado Lows happen in the spring and fall. This storm system will be cooking along as many of them will during 2025.
