A beautiful day for Manufacturing Day!

Today we had the pleasure of participating in Effingham County Chamber Manufacturing Day! We welcomed two groups of area high school students to tour our facility and introduced them to the world of industrial automation. We walked them through our process of custom design, machining and fabricating, machine build, wiring and programming. We love to be able to show these young students the exciting careers available right here in Effingham!

As I contemplate the nature of the people I work with daily really stuck out. We have a fair amount of young engineers at Versatech. Regardless of intelligence, you don't know what you don't know. But the people around me make up for it. They strive to do their , be the best, & provide the best.

So I'm thankful for the team around me striving to be their best & pushing me to be my best. You grow inside the environment you are in. Choose to stay positive and be the best at what you do every day.

How do you join 2 metals if you need/ want.....
-Pre-painted panels

- Eliminate inconsistency

Use a self piercing rivet. Amazingly simple technology that provides amazing quality, a virtually water & air tight joint, looks great, handles vibration, & provides electrical continuity.

For , we had a contest in to model the best flag. After 30 minutes, winner takes all and their flag would be machined as a display and demonstration for manufacturing day. After the winner was chosen.. Nice work John Ungrund!โ€ฆ the model was uploaded into Mastercam and programmed to run in a 3 axis mill. Because of the amount of material needing removed and the large waves in the flag, a ball end mill was required and the steel was profiled. This takes timeโ€ฆ A lot of time. The video you see is sped up to 240x normal speed!
The juniors and seniors who visited Versatech for manufacturing day enjoyed seeing the flag & hearing how it was made. So thankful for the people around Effingham that help facilitate manufacturing day for the young adults to experience the many careers available to them locally. Thank you Autodesk & Mastercam for providing great software for us to use.
