California Sheet Metal’s 2026 Safety Week Co****le Tournament brought together employees from across the company for an afternoon of friendly competition, teamwork, and celebration.

This year’s Safety Week was especially meaningful as we also celebrated a strong safety culture our teams uphold every day across the field, shop, and office. This represents accountability, teamwork, and the shared commitment our employee-owners bring to keeping one another safe.

From competitive matchups and plenty of laughs to fresh In-N-Out served onsite, the event was a great way to recognize the people behind the work and the culture that drives California Sheet Metal forward.

Bringing coastal luxury to life in the heart of Encinitas. 🌊

California Sheet Metal is proud to bring its craftsmanship and expertise as the sheet metal partner to TFW Construction for their latest project: The Captain at Moonlight Beach, a landmark coastal infill development designed to redefine the live-work experience along one of San Diego’s most sought-after shorelines!

Spanning over 194,000 SF, this mixed-use project seamlessly integrates residential, office, and retail spaces, introducing a modern, walkable live-work environment just steps from the beach.

As part of this project, California Sheet Metal will fabricate and install high-performance exterior panel systems, including custom ACM plate panels, perforated panels, and storm-resistant louvers. These systems feature silver-grey finishes, natural textures, clean staggered layouts, and exposed fastening systems that complement the building’s modern coastal aesthetic while delivering durability and long-term performance in a demanding coastal environment.

From material selection through installation, CSM’s work reflects a commitment to precision, quality, and design excellence, helping shape a project that truly brings coastal luxury to life.

For the next installment of the CSM Award-Winning Project Spotlight Series, we are proud to present our star project in the Los Angeles market: The Grand LA.

Completed in 2022, this project is a recipient of the 2023 California SMACNA Tom Guilfoy Memorial Craftsmanship Award.

Located in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles, The Grand showcases CSM’s ability to deliver high-performance architectural metal systems at scale in a dense, high-visibility urban environment.

CSM’s scope included the fabrication and installation of custom exterior metal panel systems, stair cladding, flashing, copings, and trim. Featuring formed panels with multi-coat fluoropolymer finishes in bright silver tones, The Grand LA was built for durability, performance, and a refined, modern aesthetic.

From complex curves to seamless transitions, every detail reflects the precision and craftsmanship behind our work.

The Grand LA is more than an award-winning project; it’s proof that California Sheet Metal delivers at the highest level, from San Diego to Los Angeles.

That’s the standard Huda Bahjat, our talented Design Engineer, brings to every project she touches at California Sheet Metal.

Her work has contributed to the successful delivery of standout projects, including the San Diego Symphony’s Jacobs Music Center renovation (2024), the Southwestern College Instructional Complex Planetarium (2025), and the San Diego County Operations Center – Public Health Lab (2025).

Most recently, she played a key role in bringing a custom perforated staircase to life for BMS Project Sierra, the new Bristol Myers Squibb Headquarters at Campus Point here in San Diego.

Beyond her work at CSM, Huda is also a CAD tutor at Cuyamaca College, where she shares her knowledge and passion for design.

Her most challenging project to date? The San Diego County Operations Center Public Health Lab encouraged her to grow beyond her role as she supported coordination efforts and worked closely with the GC to ensure every detail was executed to the highest standards.

We’re proud to celebrate Huda and the impact she continues to make across our projects and our team.

As we kick off Women’s History Month & National Women in Construction Week, we at California Sheet Metal are spotlighting women in construction history.

Today, we recognize Franciska Bale, San Diego’s first licensed woman contractor.
Beginning her career in 1921, Mrs. Bale went on to build nearly 200 homes across North Park, East San Diego, Coronado, & La Jolla, establishing herself in a traditional male field that was just beginning to formalize contractor licensing.

She financed her own work, taught herself architectural rendering, & built a nearly three-decade career shaping local neighborhoods.

At California Sheet Metal, we’re proud to recognize the women who have contributed to San Diego’s construction legacy & be part of a community built on resilience, skill, & dedication.

We're excited to launch our CSM Award-Winning Project Spotlight Series, honoring projects that set the bar at California Sheet Metal.

First up: San Diego Central Library, a 2014 California SMACNA Tom Guilfoy Memorial Craftsmanship Award winner.

Our team crafted the iconic perforated aluminum dome, integrating structural supports across eight floors with 1,200 custom panels, overcoming complex challenges for striking form and function.

The result is a true San Diego landmark, showcasing the skill and commitment of California Sheet Metal.
