Any contractor that ask for cash payments, will not do work with a contract that states what is to be done and what you will be paying, can not produce copies of there license(that has not expired and covers the work they are doing and actually has their name on it and not someone they are paying to use their license), copies of their insurance or bonding, or gives you a bid more than 20% lower than other contractors, you are taking unbelievable risk with your project. Don't assume because someone owns a business that they are licensed and insured. If your not sure about the qualifications of your contractor, call me whether you hire my company or not, i can defintely tell you how to know for sure if they are licensed and insured.
