Less than one month to go! 🌿🏙️

We are excited to be exhibiting at the 2026 Greenbuild International Conference and Expo, taking place October 20–23 at the Javits Center in New York City! You can find us in the Expo Hall at Booth #1638.

Greenbuild brings together professionals from across the sustainable building industry to connect, learn and explore new ideas in green building, resilient design, innovative materials, decarbonization and more.

And for us, this year’s location makes the event even more special.

The Javits Center is home to an extensive green roof spanning 6.75 acres — approximately 294,000 square feet, or about the size of five football fields!

Chatfield Green Roofing proudly supplied the sedum mats for this remarkable project, making it especially exciting for us to exhibit beneath a green roof our product helped bring to life. The Javits Center describes its 6.75-acre green roof as a major part of its sustainability program and rooftop habitat.

If you’ll be attending Greenbuild, make sure to stop by Booth #1638 to meet our team, learn more about our lightweight XeroFlor green roof systems and locally grown sedum mats, and talk with us about your upcoming projects.

With extreme heat and limited rainfall affecting much of the region, now is an important time to check on your green roof!

Sedum is hardy, drought-tolerant, and low-maintenance—but it is still a living system. Prolonged periods of hot, dry weather can create stress, especially for newly installed sedum mats that are still establishing their roots.

During extreme heat, be sure to:
• Inspect the roof regularly for signs of stress
• Check the growing media beneath the plants
• Water thoroughly so moisture reaches the root zone
• Water in the early morning when possible
• Pay extra attention to edges, corners, and areas near reflective walls or rooftop equipment

One watering may not be enough during an extended heat wave, so continued monitoring is important.

A little extra care during challenging weather can help protect plant health, maintain coverage, and support the long-term performance of your green roof.

Have questions about caring for your green roof during extreme heat? The Chatfield Green Roofing team is here to help.
