Q: Is propane gas a safe fuel?

A: Yes, when used properly. Although propane gas is naturally colorless and odorless, propane has an odorant added to give it distinct rotten-egg smell to help you quickly notice leaking gas. If you smell gas, leave the area immediately and call us or 911 from a safe area. Stay away until help arrives.

Q: How do I read the gauge on my tank?
A: The gauge on your tank is a percentage gauge, not a gallon gauge. For example, if the gauge reads 20 and you have a 250 gallon tank, you have 50 gallons of propane left in your tank. (250 x 20% = 50). If you do not know what size tank you have, please contact us and we will tell you.

Q: How do I transport my propane cylinder for a refill?

A: When transporting cylinders, keep them upright to prevent leaks, even an empty propane cylinder may still have enough propane to leak. Remember to never leave cylinders in the car for very long, especially in hot weather. It’s best to go directly from your propane supplier’s office to refill your cylinder and then go directly home.

Why is your propane tank painted a light-reflecting color? Safety is why!
If you paint a propane tank in a dark or non-reflective color, the tank will absorb heat from the sun, even on cloudy days. As the tank heats, the propane inside will expand. If it expands enough it could cause the safety relief valve to open to reduce the excess pressure from the tank.

During the summer It makes sense to have extra refillable propane cylinders. But you have to store them correctly.

Always store them upright, and keep them outdoors. NEVER store cylinders indoors, or in the garage, carport, shed, or sunporch.
