You can see the arcing coming off the contactor here. This is exactly what we’re talking about when we mention pitting on the contacts.

This unit has been doing this for a while, and over time it just kept getting worse. It actually got hot enough to burn the paperwork inside the electrical compartment.

This is why it’s important to catch these early—once they start pitting and arcing, it doesn’t take long for things to escalate.
