It is now official. Mr. Seth Baker is the new owner of River Street Rail LLC, located at 408 East River St, Elkland, PA.

Seth and his crew will continue to provide professional, thoughtful service with a new energy. I am so very thankful & proud.

Roger & I will miss most all of the wonderful folks who supported us with their business--the friendships and traditions formed over our 17 years at the helm and for me, in the 35 years before that since Mom and Dad began. I think I speak for all of my family-- my parents, my siblings and their families, and our children and their families to our employees past and present and customers: Thank you for the memories. A good time was had by all. We carry you with us as we venture forward.

Roger is feeling much much better with his new aortic valve and we treasure the time we spend with our children, grandchildren, dogs, cats, cattle, and gardens.

Painter's Meat Processing LLC will continue on, though not as a processor, but rather now as a broker. I plan to match customers seeking quality, local beef, pork, and lamb with the growers who have them available. If I can help with that, please call 607-368-1839.

This time we have EXCITING news to share!!

Custom meat processing has and will continue at 408 East River Street!!!!

Seth Baker--10 year employee and entrepreneur in other agricultural areas such as maple and dairy production--will bring new energy to a well-grounded practice. Our current staff will remain a part of the team.

Painter's Meat Processing is currently making appointments for Seth. We have and will be operating continuously, so call today if you need service now.

If you expect to need a Fall 2019 date (or anything sooner), we encourage you to book as soon as possible, as prime dates are filling rapidly.

We appreciate all of the support given during this time of transition. I plan to update soon.

It is not easy to announce, but Roger and I will retire at the end of the year. We have been blessed with wonderful customers and staff and friends and family who have supported us over our 17-year turn at the steering wheel of this family business that began in November of 1966.

We have a full schedule of domestic work (beef, hogs, lambs) until mid-January that we will complete, but we are no longer making appointments.

We are not accepting deer or bear, nor are we accepting boneless venison for further processing--other than to honor a gift certificate.

Our decision came abruptly after realizing that we both have health issues to address and that without additional staff, we would not be able to deliver the level of service that we would always wish. Last year we processed 1,000 whole deer and an additional 3,000 lbs of boneless venison for further processing (hot dogs, pepperstick, bologna, etc).

There is a possibility that some of the different aspects of our business will be continued independently by new owners. Unfortunately there is not enough time to make the arrangements so that our hunters can be accommodated this year. We apologize for the inconvenience.

However, as news develops I will keep you posted--both here and on our shop line greeting.

Every year, Painter's Meat Processing supports the hard-working local youth who exhibit an interest in agriculture by attending the county livestock auctions! Only several times a year does this opportunity come up: on Friday, March 10th we will be cutting pork from six locally grown hogs that were harvested under USDA inspection. This allows us to sell this pork in individual pieces and allows anyone the opportunity to special order the way we cut and/or package it. Orders must be placed by 5pm on Thursday, March 9th. Ordering ahead saves time and space for us, so we will pass those savings along to reserved and promptly picked up orders Anything not special ordered will be available after Friday at regular prices and availability. We always have locally grown pork within reach by the the half or whole pig, and we of course like to cut those specifically for you. However, if you are looking for just a little bit of something and you value knowing exactly where it came from and how it was raised, this is the time to jump on a great opportunity.
