So, if you find yourself in need of a roofing contractor, remember three very important things:

1. Do not use a contractor that requires payment for materials up front. I thought I was helping a small business by paying a deposit; but a reputable contractor has at least 30-days credit and can pay off the supplier when the job is finished.

2. Never pay for the job, until it’s completed to your satisfaction. Especially if the contractor wants to be paid via CashApp, Zelle, or cash.

3. References are fine, but can be faked. Always ask for a current copy of the business license and insurance before the job starts. Don’t be afraid to send a copy of the insurance document to your insurance agent for review.

I didn’t follow my own advice and got screwed by Thomas Sapp. Don’t let it happen to you!!

Item 4 of the TSGC contract was to wrap the garage door frames with aluminum. It says nothing about customer supplying anything. I gave Thomas a partial roll of coil stock to help the job. It was enough to do one garage door correctly, but not enough for two. He cut a few corners and tried to make it work for two doors. Afterwards he said it “looks terrible, and I’ll be back to make it right.” He never came back or returned any phone calls after that day. You can see the different colors and the wrap doesn’t even cover all the trim! Just sad! I had to hire someone else to fix it.

TSGC was contracted to replace some shingles on my roof. Not only were they the wrong color; but he only put one nail in each shingle. Ask any quality roofer (or the manufacturer) and they'll tell you to use at least 4 nails per shingle!!

My TSGC contract (Item 5) said to fix J-channel on stone wall and re-mortar. Well TSGC cut the stone, but never came back to re-mortar the gaps he exposed. Of course he doesn't remember what he promised to do, after he got paid.... You can see the bare wood, just below the J-channel he installed.

So, TSGC has a FB page and I left an honest review of his shoddy work. He truly is clueless and didn’t read his contract! His own hand written contract said he would provide the materials, yet he blames me because I donated half a roll of my own coil stock to the project. Yet when it runs out he quits the job and doesn’t come back. Plus the pictures don’t lie!! You can see all the crap he thinks is quality work here on this FB page. 🤣🤣

Well apparently there is a "real" Thomas Sapp professional roofer, and then there is the hack I hired - who also goes by the name Thomas Sapp and TSGC. I'm weighing my options for how and when to move forward. At this point I can't decide which direction to go.
