Quite the transformation on this old neglected oak floor! for the Win!

A friend called and said, "we bought a house with hardwood floors. Can you refinish them?" (like right now😬).

I happened to have a couple extra days to spare because of a delay on another job, so I got busy sanding! This one included every sander available to me as well as a huge stash of paper, lacing in multiple patches and hand scraping the upstairs pine floors that had been costed in shelac.

The house was being leveled, tile work was being done in multiple locations, and a wall was being opened up in the kitchen, more or less all at the same time I was working, but a promise is a promise and I got it down just in time😀.

It's not often you get a customer that sends a picture of what they want their trim to look like and I can't find it through a supplier, but that's exactly what happened here.

8 weeks after starting, it's finally done. Several of those days were spent milling raw poplar into the profile you see here. Scraping and sanding the cove smooth took way too long, but the end result is pretty darn awesome.

Just a little upgrade to the stairs coming from the kitchen to the back porch on this house.

While the previous steps were solid, the railing was far from it. The homeowner requested wrap around steps in Trex and allowed me to get a bit creative with the design.

So much sanding.

This floor had previously been very poorly refinished. There were multiple marks left behind from running a drum sander across the grain, deep gouges and a failed finish as well. It was a mess.

A huge stack of spent sandpaper later and the floor is looking 100% better.

Much needed night stand just completed! I am building a new bedroom set (in what little spare time I have) with brown maple. This is the first piece competed. The second night stand is only a day or two behind this one. Beautifully finished with furniture finish and furniture wax!

Two chests of drawers and bed frame will soon to follow!

When the most difficult tile project you've ever taken on becomes the most rewarding😍

This shower is natural black slate, with black grout. After about 8 hours of perfecting the grout (because it sticks to the surface of the slate even though I sealed it repeatedly), it is finally done.
