Things that make me (as a Mobile Developer everyday more productive):
Every developer has their own preference when it comes to working, for example:
early in the morning vs. late at night listening to music, or not at home vs. at the office open space vs. small room
Over time, I found a few strategies that increased my productivity, so I'm sharing them below, maybe they'll help you too:
1️⃣Plan your next day - either all of it, or at least a main task you need to get done. Make sure you have all the info, so tomorrow you can start on it right away.
2️⃣Work on difficult tasks first - no matter if you start at 7:00 or at 10:00, devs usually have more brain power early on. Get one such difficult task done early, so you're already starting off the day well.
3️⃣Use the Eisenhower Matrix - this is more for the long run. If you don't know about it, it's a 4 quadrant matrix you use to prioritize your tasks:
- from urgent to not urgent
- from important to less important.
It brings clarity on what you ACTUALLY need to do vs. what's just keeping you busy.
4️⃣Take breaks when you NEED them, not when an app or a person tells you - some people can go 6 months without a vacation and then get 1 month off. Others prefer to work hard 4 days, then relax for 3. Find what works the best for you and do that, without the social pressure or a Pomodoro timer.
5️⃣Explore and use Al tools - yup, the hot topic of the moment. Again, don't just follow the trends, see what works for you. For devs, even ChatGPT can be enough.
