The new kilns are officially up and running! After being loaded and placed into operation on May 19, these high capacity kilns have already dried more than 840,000 board feet of lumber. With a maximum capacity of approximately 95,000 - 97,000 board feet per kiln and turnaround times averaging 10-14 days, they are quickly becoming a crucial part of our operation. The additional drying capacity will help us increase throughput, keep lumber moving efficiently from the mill to the dryline, and support continued improvement in production and efficiency across the facility.

Congratulations to our Employee of the Month, Jake Ramsey!
Since joining Emporium Hardwoods in October 2019, Jake has consistently demonstrated a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a willingness to help wherever needed. He is known for working well with everyone and always being ready to lend a hand to his coworkers.
In January 2022, Jake transitioned into a full-time truck driving position. Since then, he has proven to be a dependable and dedicated employee whom Emporium Hardwoods can count on every day. His willingness to assist others, offer sound advice, and accommodate schedule changes has made him a valued member of our team.
Thank you, Jake, for your hard work, dedication, and commitment to Emporium Hardwoods. We appreciate everything you do.

Emporium Hardwoods was pleased to welcome CCOYA camp participants for a tour of our facility today. During their visit, the campers learned about the operations of our sawmill, kilns, and dry line, gaining a firsthand look at how hardwood lumber is processed from start to finish.

We enjoyed having them with us and hope they had a fun and educational experience. We wish everyone at CCOYA a safe, happy, and memorable summer!

Emporium Hardwoods participated in the 2026 Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament, shooting a 63 and finishing in 3rd place.

The team was proud to represent the company and earn a place on the leaderboard. Congratulations to all involved in a strong performance.

Our employee for the Month of May is Devin Streich!
Devin has been employed with us for 1.5 years. In that time, he has shown excellent growth and is taking the steps to become a leader in our high paced environment. He started his career with us as a forklift operator and excelled at any tasks he was given. A few examples would be loading our kiln dried production line as well as loading and unloading our dry kilns. Recently he has taken on a job assisting our kiln operator and beginning to lead our boiler operations, a very important role. Onsite we have a Powerhouse 700 horsepower natural gas boiler that supplies heat to our 22 dry kilns. Devin is expected to make the correct decisions and supply effective amounts of chemicals into our boiler each day for proper water and boiler care. Some of the chemicals include PH, DEHA, and Sulfite. Thank you Devin for becoming such a valuable member of our team and we look forward to watching you grow in the upcoming years.

After 50 years of dedicated service, today marks the final day of work for Dennis “Denny” McKimm. Throughout his career, Denny has seen many changes at the mill — from changes in ownership and countless employees over the years to the devastating fire and the rebuilding that followed, in which he played a major role.

Many of us have depended on Denny for one thing or another over the years, and his knowledge, hard work, and dedication will truly be missed. His impact on the mill and the people he worked alongside will not be forgotten.

Congratulations on your retirement, Denny, and thank you for 50 years of commitment and service. Enjoy your retirement — you’ve certainly earned it!

9th Grade students from Cameron County and Austin schools took part in the Rotary Days Tour sponsored by the Emporium Rotary Club and The Community Education Counsel. One stop on their tour was the Emporium Hardwoods where they toured the sawmill, dry kilns and dryline. Thanks you to Scott Lewis, Blake Andrews and Zach Peters for giving great tours!

Today, we were proud to be part of the Cameron/Elk Special Olympics held at Cameron County High School as members of the Olympic Village alongside other local businesses and community organizations. We provided pinwheels for participants to decorate with stickers or color while spending time between events. There were many activities available for the athletes and participants to enjoy throughout the day, helping create a fun, welcoming, and encouraging atmosphere. It was wonderful to see so much creativity, excitement, and so many smiling faces throughout the event. We were honored to support such an inspiring day and to be part of a community that celebrates inclusion, encouragement, and teamwork.
