Classroom and hallway floors take a real beating during the school year. Summer is when you get to actually fix that, and it makes a bigger difference than most people expect going into fall.

A proper strip-and-recoat removes the layers of finish that have built up, dulled, and trapped dirt over the year. You get a clean base, a fresh coat, and floors that are genuinely easier to maintain for the next nine months.

Betco's floor care line is what we recommend for this work. Their Extreme Floor Stripper cuts through heavy buildup without a fight, and Untouchable Floor Finish is tough enough for school traffic without going so thick that it hazes or yellows by December.

A few things we see trip people up on this job:

• Don't rush the dwell time. Let the stripper do its work. If you push it too fast, you're just moving partially-lifted finish around.
• Rinse thoroughly. Finish applied over residue won't cure the way it should.
• Go thin on the coats. Multiple thin layers will always outlast one heavy one.

If you want to talk through what you'll need (stripper, neutralizer, finish, applicators), we're easy to reach. Call us at 607-786-3766 or put together your order at rmsjansan.com.

Facial tissue is easy to overlook. It's also one of the more visible paper products in a building. A box sits on a reception desk, a patient room nightstand, a teacher's desk. The people seeing it are often the same people noticing whether your organization is making sustainability choices.

The Emerald Ecovations facial tissue we now carry is boxed tissue and flat-pack cartons, built from the same bamboo and bagasse blend as the rest of the line. Soft enough for healthcare and front-office settings. Strong enough that one sheet does the job of one sheet. Net Zero certified for carbon, like the bath tissue and hand towels.

Two reasons it's worth a closer look. First, it's a low-volume item with high signal value. The box itself is recyclable cardboard with no plastic window, which is a quiet message about how the building runs. Second, it closes the loop. If you've already moved bath tissue and hand towels over, picking up the facial tissue rounds out your restroom and front-of-house program.

That wraps our introduction to the line. Bath tissue, hand towels, napkins, facial tissue. Most ships from our warehouse today. The rest goes on the next order.

If any of this lines up with a sustainability goal on your side, call our office at 607-786-3766, talk to your local rep, or visit rmsjansan.com, and we'll walk it through with you. You're also welcome to stop in and see the line in person.

In today’s facility supply world, change happens fast. Companies merge, ownership shifts, and customer relationships can get lost in the shuffle.

That’s why working with Riley Maintenance Systems, a Triple S Independent Distributor, is different. We’re deeply rooted in the Southern Tier, invested in long-term partnerships, and focused on solving problems — not just making transactions. And because we are a part of the Triple S network, our local commitment is backed by the buying power, innovation, and resources of a national organization.

The result? You get a partner who knows your business, delivers consistent service, and shows up for you day after day — no matter what’s happening in the market.

We are in your corner today, tomorrow, and beyond.

A typical school cafeteria moves through thousands of napkins a week. A busy restaurant, more. They're high-volume, high-visibility, and they end up touching food, which makes them one of the more scrutinized paper items in a building.

The Emerald Ecovations napkin line is now on our shelves: tall-fold, dispenser napkins, beverage napkins, and full-size dinner napkins. Same bamboo and bagasse blend as the rest of the family. Same plastic-free packaging.

Three things specific to napkins that matter:

• Food contact. The line meets FDA standards for direct food contact. The fiber source doesn't change that.
• Compostability. Used napkins are commercial-compostable. If your operation already separates organics, the napkins go straight into the food waste stream.
• Dispenser fit. Sizes are built to standard dispenser dimensions, so the front-of-house team doesn't need to retrain or replace hardware.

For schools and healthcare cafeterias reporting on sustainability, this is one of those swaps that doesn't ask anyone to do anything differently. Same workflow, better story.

In stock at RMS in the common sizes. Specialty formats can be added to our next order. Call our office at 607-786-3766 or your local rep with questions, or visit rmsjansan.com. Stop by the office if you want to see and feel a sample before you order.

When the right machine is doing the work, your team gets more done in less time, and the floors actually look like they were cleaned by professionals.

That's why we partner with IPC Eagle. They build commercial cleaning equipment with the kind of engineering you notice the first time you run one. Floor scrubbers that maneuver tight aisles. Sweepers that handle real debris. Vacuums and extractors built for everyday commercial use. Equipment that holds up shift after shift, year after year.

Whether you're scrubbing a school gym, sweeping a warehouse floor, or extracting carpets in a hotel, there's an IPC Eagle machine built for the job, and we carry the full line.

The best way to know if a piece of equipment is right for your facility? See it run in your space, on your floors. Our local rep can bring one out and walk you through it. No pressure, just an honest look at whether it fits the work you actually do.

Give us a call at 607-786-3766 or visit rmsjansan.com to set up a demo. We'll help you find the right machine for the job.

When the last bus pulls out, the real work begins. Honestly, it's our favorite time of year to work with school facilities teams.

Summer is the one stretch where you get the building all to yourself. No classrooms to work around, no hallways to cordon off. But that window closes faster than it feels like it will, and the teams we see come out of summer in great shape are the ones who get their supply orders in early.

Betco and Triple S products are a big part of what we put together for schools this time of year. Their floor care, disinfectants, and restroom lines are built for exactly the kind of high-traffic, hard-use environment your building deals with, and they hold up.

Whether you're planning a full floor strip-and-recoat, a restroom deep clean, or a building-wide disinfection pass, we'll help you put together a product list that makes sense for your space and your crew.

Give us a call at 607-786-3766 or visit us at rmsjansan.com. We're happy to help you get a plan in place before the season gets away from you.

If there's one paper product in your building that gets judged purely on absorbency, it's the hand towel. Cheap or careless, and your restroom looks bad inside of a week.

The Emerald Ecovations roll towels and multifolds we now stock are built from the same bamboo and bagasse blend as the bath tissue. The relevant question is always the same: will it actually dry hands?

It does. Absorbency and dry-time test in line with premium recycled towels. Where the line pulls ahead is on the back end. The fiber is tree-free, the wrapping is plastic-free, used towels are commercial-compostable if your operation has access, and the product is Net Zero certified for carbon.

A practical note. The roll towel format fits most standard mechanical and hands-free dispensers, so you shouldn't need to change hardware to make the switch. Hardware swaps are usually the biggest hidden cost of a paper change, and it isn't a cost here.

Common sizes are in stock at RMS. Less common counts and case packs can ride on our next order, usually on a short turnaround.

If you've been wanting to clean up the sustainability profile of your restroom program without changing the dispenser, this is a straightforward place to start. Call our office at 607-786-3766, talk to your local rep, or visit rmsjansan.com. Stop in any time if you want to see a sample in person.

Does tree-free toilet paper actually hold up? It's the first question we get, and the short answer is yes.

The Emerald Ecovations bath tissue we now stock is a two-ply, 100% bamboo and bagasse blend. No tree pulp, no chlorine bleach, no dyes. It's septic-safe, breaks down quickly the way toilet paper should, and the roll is Net Zero certified for carbon across its full lifecycle.

Three things that matter when you compare it to a conventional roll:

• Sheet performance. Softness and wet-strength land in the same range as a standard premium two-ply. Your end users won't flag the change.
• Fiber source. Bamboo regrows in 3 to 5 years. Sugarcane bagasse is an agricultural byproduct that would otherwise be burned off or discarded.
• Packaging. Each roll wraps in compostable paper instead of plastic film. Less plastic waste at every dispenser change.

For any building tracking sustainability metrics, this is one of the easiest line items to swap. Schools, healthcare systems, anyone running LEED or ESG reporting. The end user experience holds. The story behind the product changes.

At RMS we've got rolls in stock. Want to see a sample? Call our office at 607-786-3766, stop in, or reach out to your local rep. More information at rmsjansan.com.
