Classroom and hallway floors take a real beating during the school year. Summer is when you get to actually fix that, and it makes a bigger difference than most people expect going into fall.
A proper strip-and-recoat removes the layers of finish that have built up, dulled, and trapped dirt over the year. You get a clean base, a fresh coat, and floors that are genuinely easier to maintain for the next nine months.
Betco's floor care line is what we recommend for this work. Their Extreme Floor Stripper cuts through heavy buildup without a fight, and Untouchable Floor Finish is tough enough for school traffic without going so thick that it hazes or yellows by December.
A few things we see trip people up on this job:
• Don't rush the dwell time. Let the stripper do its work. If you push it too fast, you're just moving partially-lifted finish around.
• Rinse thoroughly. Finish applied over residue won't cure the way it should.
• Go thin on the coats. Multiple thin layers will always outlast one heavy one.
