We're excited to share this project spotlight featuring SWI Excavating's Director of Sales and Marketing, Tony Dalla, filmed on-site at our Quick Trip fuel station development.

This project presented a unique set of challenges from the outset. The site was commercially developed in the 1950s using landfill backfill — meaning our team has been carefully excavating and manifesting decades of buried material, hauling it to a certified disposal facility, and replacing it with structural fill to properly prepare the subgrade for the new fuel station.

Additionally, the site's limited footprint required specialized shoring to protect adjacent roadways and infrastructure throughout the excavation process.

This is precisely the kind of complex, multi-layered project that SWI is uniquely positioned to handle. Our depth of experience in environmental site conditions, shoring, and subgrade stabilization made us the right partner for Kwik Trip — and we're proud of that trust.

Proper site preparation, utility installation, and subgrade stabilization are the determinants of long-term structural performance. Cutting corners here creates problems that show up years later — settlement, drainage failures, utility repairs — all far more costly than doing it right the first time.
