Throwback to what appears to be a Custom Engineering Co sales letter from the early days; likely sometime in the late 1950s or early 1960s.
At first glance, it’s a fascinating piece of industrial history.

Steel shortages. Price increases. Labor uncertainty. Supply chain disruption.

Sound familiar?

Long before email, ERP systems, and real-time forecasting, Custom Engineering was sending letters encouraging customers to plan ahead for uncertainty in the steel market and secure critical production needs before disruptions hit.

Different era. Same manufacturing reality.

What we love most is that even back then, the mindset wasn’t simply “we build parts.” It was about helping customers think ahead, manage risk, and keep production moving.

Over 70 years later, a lot has changed in manufacturing - but some things haven’t.

Strong partnerships, planning ahead, and solving problems before they become emergencies still matter.

Pretty cool reminder of where we came from!
