Well, we're getting started boring the end of the boom. Some folks like the bore welder. For certain applications the bore welder is fine. I prefer hand welding when I can. It's just faster.

The boom wasn't damaged as bad as the stick was. Cracks aren't a problem for these 3/8" arc gouge rods. We want 100% pe*******on when we start welding it back up.

Done with the stick. Moving the boom into place to get started on it now.

Last plate going on! Glad to have the welding portion done on this repair. Next phase is align boring!

Finishing up the reinforcement plate on the Ol' Long Reach stick. The weather was supposed to be sunny and mild but as you can see in the reel, it wasn't. Once again, what would we do without Hobart XLR 8!!

This is the finished product after welding in the patch/repair plate. We will fab up the reinforcement plate and weld it over the finished product.

Flipped the stick over to do the other side. I believe that I called it a reinforcement plate in this reel but it actually is a patch plate. The reinforcement plate goes over this one.

Patch plate welding and grinding is done. We're welding up the reinforcement plate now. Wind gusts are around 25mph today. I can't say enough about Hobart XLR 8 in the field.
