🔧 SCULLY’S AIR TIP TUESDAY 🌡️

Yep… 78°. This is actually my thermostat at home today. 😂👍 (Taylor here by the way 👋)

One of the biggest AC myths? Turning your thermostat WAY down will cool your house faster.

It won’t.

If your house is 80° and you want it at 74°, setting the thermostat to 60° doesn’t suddenly put your AC into turbo mode. 🥶 It just tells the system to keep running until it reaches that temperature.

At our house, I usually keep ours around 78° during the day. If we’re running around cleaning and working up a sweat, I might bump it down to 77° or 76°, and we like it cooler when we sleep.

Leaving the house? You can bump the thermostat up a few degrees to save energy while you’re gone. We generally don’t recommend shutting the AC completely off during our hot Central Valley summers. Coming home to an extremely hot house means your system may have a LOT of cooling to do to get comfortable again.

And when those mornings or evenings finally cool down enough outside? 🙌 We give the AC a break and use our whole-house fan.

Bottom line: Set it where you’re comfortable, adjust it when you’re away, and don’t send it to Antarctica thinking it’ll cool the house faster. 😂

📚 The kids are back in school…

…which means Brandon has been telling everyone,

“I’ve got my wife back… IN THE BUSINESS!” 🤣

Now that the kids are back in school, I’m back riding along with Brandon, answering calls, taking photos, helping customers, grabbing parts, and trying not to distract him while he’s working. 😅

🧊 DID YOU KNOW?

One of the most common air conditioning problems during a heat wave is a frozen evaporator coil.

Wait… frozen? In 100° weather?

Yep! 😅

A frozen AC usually means something isn’t right, such as:
❄️ A dirty air filter
❄️ Restricted airflow
❄️ Low refrigerant
❄️ A blower or airflow issue

Here’s the important part:

🚫 If your AC is frozen, turn the system OFF and let it thaw completely before calling us.

We can’t properly diagnose the problem while the system is one big ice block. Letting it thaw first helps us identify the real issue and often saves you time during your service call.

If your home isn’t cooling, your system is running nonstop, or you’ve noticed ice on the refrigerant lines or indoor coil, don’t ignore it. The sooner it’s addressed, the better chance we have of preventing a bigger repair.
