If you’ve ever seen a utility truck with an auger on the front, you’ve spotted a digger derrick. It helps our crews drill pole sleeves, lift transformers, and set new poles.

Beyond having an amazing name, they’re essential to our work. And right now, nearly impossible to get. Lane Electric has two on order, both have been significantly delayed.

➡️ 🦸 Enter, our fleet mechanic. He got creative and found a lightly used derrick in great condition and secured it for the cooperative. This will save more than $70,000 for you, our member-owners.

This is the kind of quiet, everyday problem‑solving our staff does behind the scenes.

This summer, we had the opportunity to tour Camp Alma and see firsthand the powerful, integrative services Veterans Legacy Oregon provides to support veterans in our community.

For many years, Lane Electric has been a proud supporter of their mission.

✨ In recognition of their impact, Lane Electric’s Board of Directors awarded a $4,000 donation to support Veterans Legacy’s growth.

When you call Lane Electric, the people you speak with are part of a stellar team that works hard to make sure you get the help you need. No matter if its starting service, new construction project, or getting updates during an outage.

Their work happens behind the scenes, but the impact is felt throughout the cooperative.

Update, 11:45 a.m. - Due to several factors, the planned outage scheduled for today, Oct 2, has been cancelled.

We will be rescheduling it for a future date, which we will provide a notification for well in advance.

Pushing this out will also allow us to further limit the outage duration and pinpoint the exact time of that event.

In the coming days we’ll share a look at the work going into this repair.

We thank you for your patience as we continue navigating make ready work and coordination with partners on this complicated process.

Update, Oct. 2, 9:30 a.m. - Our crews are working with partners to place and energize a new transformer in our Dexter substation. This is a complicated process that involves moving a 90 thousand pound piece of equipment and placing it onsite.

We still anticipate an outage of approximately an hour while the team connects the new transformer.

Due to complexities of the work, our window for that outage has extended to between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

We will send a call out to impacted members roughly an hour out from the power going down. We hope that will help in managing the disruption.

🚨 To members impacted by yesterday's outage in the Dexter area -
You will experience an hour long outage tomorrow as we finish the installation of a new transformer.

We know outages are disruptive. We are taking care to complete the work in the safest and most efficient way possible.

Impacted members were notified via a call blast and email. We will also send a reminder call tomorrow.

Soon we'll share a look at the process of moving and setting this massive piece of equipment.

🍷 🍇 Doyle and Sue Ann Hinman are right back where they started in the w**e industry.

In April, along with their daughter, they took over Sylvan Ridge Winery, a property the Hinmans first purchased and developed back in the early 1970s. Following years of developing pasture land into vineyards, they sold the business in 1994.

Today, the w**ery is back in the family with a new name and fresh plans for the future.

Update, 12:15 p.m. - BPA is testing their equipment. A Lane Electric crew will finalize connections once testing is completed.

Update, 8:45 p.m. – BPA is onsite with the mobile transformer.

The crews are working on connections. We're working toward restoration around midnight.

We will continue to update.

Update, 6:25 p.m. – Our partners at BPA are bringing in a mobile transformer for our use. Lane Electric crews are currently working on deinstalling the impacted transformer to be ready when the BPA team arrives.

Once equipment is onsite, we’ll have a better sense of timing on restoration.

Update, 3:30 p.m. – The crew has identified a critical issue in our transformer, which means this will be an extended outage.

We are working on several options for restoration, including:
1. moving in a spare transformer Lane Electric has
2. working with the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) to bring in a mobile transformer

Our best case for restoration is roughly 8 hours. We are doing everything we can to bring power back as soon as possible.

We will continue to update on progress.

September 30, 1:35 p.m. – We are working through an issue with a transformer in our substation that serves members in Dexter, Lowell, Fall Creek, Pleasant Hill, Fall Creek, and parts of Springfield and Eugene.

A serviceman is onsite and working on restoration.

We’ll update as we know more on timing.

🍂🌧️ Fall Weather Is Here — Time to Secure Your Space

As we roll right out of wildfire season and into the wind and rain of fall, it’s a great time to take a quick look around your home and property.

Loose items can become hazards in strong gusts, and securing them now helps keep you — and our crews — safe.

💨 In addition to rain, winds are forecast to increase from the west/southwest on Friday behind the frontal passage. Chances for isolated, peak wind gusts of 50+ mph are 20-30% along the coast and 5-15% along the I-5 corridor. Gusts this strong could result in isolated power outages.

Make sure to secure outdoor items that could blow away.
