Here are some before and after pictures of a 1000HP, 575V definite purpose VFD driven motor after a complete refurbishment including a rewind with magnetic wedges. Our team at EEMSCO, INC. takes pride in making the equipment look better than new when it is returned. Not only does it look better than new, it will perform as good or better than new. This particular motor is an IEC frame. The coil insulation scheme from the OEM requires that the motor be tested to higher than standard values on it’s electrical tests, due to the VFD configuration it is connected too.

All rewinds at EEMSCO are tested at values that meet or exceed the NEMA MG-1 Part 31 or IEC 60034-18-41 standards for inverter duty rated systems. The acceptance criteria has changed in 2024 and 2025. This means that our surge test and high potential test values are higher than the normal values. We conduct partial discharge testing on the windings to ensure they are PD free up to the values required by the standards. Part of meeting the IEC 60034 standard states that the motor must pass it’s high potential test completely assembled and all wires terminated on terminal blocks. These tests don’t ensure a quality rewind, they prove it. You can’t test quality into your process, but you can surely validate quality work by testing properly.

Here’s a fun one!

200/200HP, 4/6 pole, 2.3kV motor with 72 slots. It’s not a PAM winding and has 2 sets of leads (one for each speed). Coils only have 1 pitch and 2 coils per slot like a standard form coil would. Connection for each winding is 1Y.

A rush 2300V, 1179RPM, 450HP, high starting torque fan motor rewind. This sleeve bearing machine needed a rush rewind. In 3 weeks, we had it back to the customer. This could have been done a week quicker, but we require sample coils and fully fit and test them prior to a rewind.
