🎆Here's a little history for you on this 4th of July 🎆:
Many people think the Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4, 1776—but the story is more remarkable.
On July 2, 1776, Congress voted for independence by adopting the Lee Resolution.
Two days later, July 4, 1776, the Declaration Of Independence was officially adopted and announced to the world by the ringing of the Liberty Bell at Independence Hall.
On August 2, 1776 most delegates signed the Declaration, making it the historic document we know today.
But while Americans celebrated, the Revolutionary War was far from over. As the Liberty Bell rang in Philadelphia, British troops were arriving in New York. General George Washington read the Declaration to his soldiers, giving them renewed purpose in their fight for freedom.
Over the next several years, Americans endured tremendous hardships—including the brutal winter at Valley Forge encampment—before achieving victory at the Siege of Yorktown in 1781. The Treaty of Paris, signed in 1783, officially recognized the United States as a free and independent nation.
This Independence Day, let's remember that our freedom was won not in a single day, but through years of courage, sacrifice, and unwavering determination.
