Not every insulation job is as straightforward as it looks. 👀
This week, our crew was in Champaign at a University of Illinois apartment building, where we applied 2 inches of closed cell spray foam to the ductwork, fully encapsulating it to help prevent condensation and improve efficiency. Then we finished it with two coats of spray-on coating to help protect the foam, especially from UV exposure.
But the spray foam was only part of the job.
With multiple contractors, delivery trucks and crews all working in and out of the same alley, communication, timing and flexibility were key. We even had to coordinate with the chefs inside the building to temporarily shut down a kitchen exhaust fan directly above our work area.
And, as always, prep mattered. We carefully masked the surrounding building and nearby objects to protect them from overspray and made sure the area was cleaned up when we were finished.
A unique project that took a little extra coordination—but our crew got it done. 💪
