When building a new home or adding an addition, everything starts with a properly constructed foundation. Stable, certified compacted soil and correctly designed footings are critical to the long-term strength and performance of the structure.

Just as important is making sure that foundation has a properly designed drainage system. Water is one of the biggest threats to any foundation, and managing it correctly from the beginning can help prevent costly problems down the road.

This illustration does a great job of showing how interior and exterior drain tile systems work together to collect and redirect water away from the foundation, helping keep the structure dry, stable, and protected for years to come.

🚧 Basement Renovation Update! 🚧

We’re making great progress on this basement renovation and just hit several major milestones!

✅ Groundworks inspection PASSED for all of the new plumbing installed below the basement slab.

✅ Sewer lateral connection PASSED inspection after repairing the belly in the existing sewer line outside the home.

✅ We’ve also completed the cutout for a new code-compliant egress window and window well, allowing us to create an additional legal bedroom in the basement. This is a huge improvement—not only for functionality, but also for the overall value of the property. Once completed and properly permitted through Fairfax County, Virginia, the homeowners will have an additional legal bedroom as part of their finished living space.

⚡ Electrical work starts tomorrow, and if everything stays on schedule, we should be ready for our concealment inspection early to mid next week.

A lot of the most important work on a basement renovation happens before you ever see drywall, flooring, or finished trim. Proper plumbing, drainage, electrical, inspections, and code-compliant egress are what make the finished project safe, functional, and built to last.

🏠 Another Big Basement Transformation Underway! 🔨🚜

We’ve got a lot happening on this project, and this one is a great example of how a basement renovation can involve a lot more than just framing walls and hanging drywall!

Our scope includes:

🔧 Sewer Line Repair – We’ll be excavating and repairing a low spot, commonly called a “belly,” in the existing sewer line to restore proper flow and drainage.

🚿 Interior Underground Plumbing – We’ll be rerouting portions of the underground plumbing in the basement to accommodate the new layout, including the addition of a full bathroom.

🪟 Legal Egress Window – We’re adding a code-compliant egress window with an exterior window well and ladder, allowing the new bedroom to meet emergency escape and rescue requirements.

🛏️ Additional Bedroom + Full Bathroom – Once completed, this previously unfinished basement will provide the homeowners with significantly more usable living space, including a new bedroom and full bathroom.

🏡 Complete Basement Finish – From the underground work all the way through the finished space, we’re handling the project from start to finish.

One of the biggest advantages of doing a basement correctly is creating space that isn’t just beautiful—it’s functional, permitted, and designed with future resale in mind. Adding finished living space, a code-compliant bedroom, and a full bathroom can make a huge difference in how a home functions and is marketed when it comes time to sell.

✨ Another Beautiful Bathroom Renovation Completed in Clifton! ✨

We recently wrapped up this complete bathroom renovation in Clifton, Virginia, and we’re extremely excited about how this one turned out!

This project wasn’t just about giving the bathroom a fresh new look—we also focused on making the space more functional, comfortable, and code-compliant.

🔨 Some of the improvements included:

• Installing a new code-compliant tempered glass window
• Adding an additional vanity to provide more counter space, storage, and everyday functionality
• Removing the existing tub and creating a larger, more functional walk-in shower
• Incorporating a corner shower seat—perfect for sitting or shaving
• Adding a custom recessed wall niche for built-in organization
• Finishing everything off with beautiful tile, trim details, fixtures, and finishes

🚿 One finishing touch is still on the way—the custom shower glass!

The shower glass has to be measured after the tile work is complete and then custom fabricated specifically for the space, so installation typically takes about 1–2 weeks after we finish the rest of the bathroom.

We probably should have waited until the glass was installed to share the finished pictures…but we were too excited about how this project turned out and wanted to share it as soon as we could!

We’ll share some additional pictures once the custom glass is installed and the bathroom is officially 100% complete.

We love taking an existing space and finding ways to make it not only beautiful, but more functional for the way our clients actually use their home.

✨ Another Beautiful Bathroom Transformation Completed in Clifton, VA! ✨

We recently completed this clean, timeless bathroom remodel, and we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.

To create the feeling of a larger space, we installed the shower wall tile vertically, drawing the eye upward and making the ceilings appear taller than they are. The soft, neutral color palette provides a warm, elegant look that will remain in style for years to come.

We also installed an illuminated mirror, adding both functionality and a modern touch to the space. Premium-quality shower fixtures were selected not only for their sleek appearance but also for their long-term durability and outstanding manufacturer warranties.

One of our favorite features is the recessed ceiling lighting, which includes an integrated nightlight ring. It creates a subtle ambient glow that’s perfect for nighttime use while adding another layer of comfort and sophistication.
