It’s with a heavy heart we share that Sidney O. Dewberry, PE, LS, founder of our firm and Chairman Emeritus, passed away mid-morning on Saturday, July 16th. He died of natural causes in his home.

Mr. Dewberry co-founded his eponymous professional services firm in 1956. Dewberry grew from a single-office, six-person civil engineering and surveying practice based in Northern Virginia to a nationwide consulting enterprise with more than 2,000 employees and 50 offices from coast to coast today.

Edmonds Engineering Joins Dewberry

In 2021, Dewberry acquired the 75+ person MEP and fire protection engineering firm Edmonds Engineering. The firm has five locations, including offices in Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee, with its headquarters located in Birmingham, Alabama. The existing offices will continue to operate under current leadership and will be supported by Dewberry’s nationwide team of more than 2,000 professionals. As Dewberry | Edmonds, the firm will continue providing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, asset management, and construction services to their clients in the areas of healthcare, education, laboratories, municipal, industrial, commercial, faith-based, hospitality, recreation, retail, and federal.

Hydro Solutions Consulting, LLC Joins Dewberry

In 2021, Dewberry acquired the 20-person water engineering firm, Hydro Solutions Consulting, LLC. The firm has three locations across the state of Florida, including Jacksonville, Orlando, and Lakeland. The existing offices will continue to operate under current leadership and will be supported by Dewberry’s nationwide team of more than 2,200 professionals. As Dewberry | Hydro, the firm will continue to deliver the “one water” platform through water infrastructure, permitting, utilities visioning, and natural systems to clients in the state and local market.
