Randall and I are very pleased to announce that Yarmouth Castle Burning, received Honorable Mention in the North American Maritime History category of the John R. Lyman book awards.
The awards are bestowed by the North American Society for Oceanic History, and were given out at the society's annual banquet, which was held this past Friday night.. These awards are for books published in 2025, divided into eight categories. A total of 80 books were submitted for awards in 2025. Out of eighty submissions, there were eight winners and two honorable mentions.

My coauthor Randall Peffer and I are pleased to announce that Yarmouth Castle Burning, has been shortlisted for the John R. Lyman book award from the North American Society for Oceanic History.
The award winners will be announced at the NASOH annual meeting on May 29th.

Randy and I are excited to announce, that our latest book has been released and is now available from bookseller's everywhere.

"Yarmouth Castle Burning" explores the deadliest passenger ship disaster of the coast of the US since the SS Morro Castle burned in 1934, when in the early morning hours of November 13th, 1965 the cruise ship SS Yarmouth Castle caught fire and sank near Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas, with a loss of 90 lives.

The book is primarily about the night the Yarmouth Castle burned and, secondarily, the legal and regulatory aftermath of the disaster. The book also includes three case studies of subsequent ship fires and how they related to the Yarmouth Castle disaster.
