Thinking of Breaking Into Construction? Read This First.

So, you’re ready to strap on the tool belt and start building. The homebuilding industry is rewarding, gritty, and—let’s be honest—a bit overwhelming when you're just starting out.

If I could give you just one piece of advice to navigate the chaos, it’s this:

Find a mentor you actually respect. 🏗️
In this business, your reputation is your currency. You can learn the technical skills from a manual, but you learn integrity from the people you follow.

The Golden Rule of Mentorship:
If you look over and see your mentor cutting corners, ignoring code, or "making it work" with duct tape and a prayer—run. 🏃‍♂️💨

If they’re cutting corners on the job site, they’re cutting corners on your education. You don't want to inherit bad habits that will cost you your license (or your conscience) down the road.

What a great mentor looks like:

They take pride in the "invisible" details.

They treat subs and vendors with respect.

They’d rather do it right than do it twice.

Find someone who builds things to last, and you’ll build a career that lasts, too. 🔨
