Families got an up-close look at some impressive equipment during the Touch-a-Truck event at Family Fun Day at St. Thomas More Church in Somerset, and our Massachusetts Gas team was proud to be part of the fun!

BE ADVISED: This screenshotted social media post is a scam. HLC warns constituents to be aware of scams and online accounts pretending to provide benefits from the Massachusetts Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) and other HLC programs.

While HEAP (formerly known as LIHEAP) does NOT provide free roof replacements and is not exclusively for seniors, HEAP does help eligible households across Massachusetts pay for a portion of their winter heating bills, starting in November and running through April. Last heating season, thanks to expanded benefits from Governor Healey, 154,781 households were provided with home heating support.

The 2025/26 heating season is now over and applications for HEAP will re-open in fall 2026. To learn more and to check your eligibility, please visit Mass.gov/HEAP.

If you are eligible for HEAP, you are also eligible for:

HEARTWAP: The Heating System Repair and Replacement Program provides emergency heating system repair and replacement services to low-income households.

Don’t Let Scammers Get You 🆘

When your caller ID says “Possible Scammer” it’s easy to ignore the call, but what happens when the phone number looks like it’s coming from Liberty, or any other utility company? It’s easy to mistake that scam call for a legitimate communication from your utility provider. We want to help you remain vigilant so you don’t fall for any scams perpetrated through phone calls, emails, or text messages.

Here are some red flags that a caller is one of the bad guys:

❌ They request payment using a prepaid credit card

❌ They demand immediate payment

❌ They send emails requesting personal, account, or financial information

Steps to Protect Yourself

✔️ If you are suspicious, hang up and call Liberty at 866-426-6999. Representatives will know if someone called you.

✔️ Do not let anyone in your home without proper identification and confirmation of an appointment. In an emergency, you can call Liberty to confirm an employee’s identity.

✔️ Never provide your financial or personal information to someone who called you – make sure you initiated the call so you can be certain who you are talking to.

✔️ Don’t click any links in emails or text messages – safe payments can be made at libertyenergyandwater.com or by calling customer service.
