Yesterday, Badland Batteries took a major step forward in its mission to strengthen America’s battery supply chain as we celebrated the ribbon-cutting ceremony for our new lithium-ion battery cell manufacturing facility in Fargo, North Dakota. What began as a vision to rebuild America's battery manufacturing capability is now a reality.
Throughout the day, we were honored to hear from leaders at the national, state, and local levels, including Senator John Hoeven, U.S. Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak, International Trade Administration Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Industry and Analysis Steven Haines, North Dakota Sen. Dale Patten, Bill Macchione of the U.S. Navy, Scott Shtofman of AUVSI, North Dakota Attorney General Drew Wrigley, Associate Administrator for the Office of Capital Access of U.S. Small Business Administration Thomas R. Kimsey Jr., and Shannon Full of the Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce. Reaching this milestone required tremendous dedication, perseverance, and teamwork. Standing up this facility was no small undertaking, and it would not have been possible without the support of our valued partners and the tireless efforts of the entire Badland Batteries team.
This facility represents more than a new factory. It represents American innovation and American manufacturing coming together to strengthen our nation's energy security and defense industrial base.
For too long, the United States has depended on foreign supply chains for the batteries that power critical technologies. We're taking an important step toward changing that.
This is not the finish line. We are actively ramping production and planning for future expansion as demand for secure, domestically manufactured battery cells continues to grow.
Yesterday, we cut the ribbon.
Today, we get back to work.
The future of American battery manufacturing is being built in Fargo.
