What a great few days at the 2026 Minnesota Watersheds Summer Tour!

HEI was proud to sponsor the event and enjoyed connecting with partners from across Minnesota while seeing firsthand the important work happening around the state. It was especially rewarding to see several HEI-supported projects included as tour stops, showcasing the collaborative efforts that help improve water quality, reduce flood risk, and strengthen communities.

HEI's Mark Jacobs will be presenting at the 2026 ASDSO Dam Safety Conference on September 1 at 3:30 p.m. in Raleigh, North Carolina. He will be co-presenting with the Iowa DNR on efforts to advance dam safety across Iowa through risk-informed assessment and prioritization.

We’re proud to see Mark sharing lessons learned from this work with peers from across the country and contributing to the continued advancement of the profession.

A great weekend at the International Peace Garden! 🌻

Team members from four of our offices attended the Gala in the Garden at the International Peace Garden near Dunseith, ND, an event celebrating community, partnership, and preservation. Ahead of the gala, our team presented the Water and Sewer Master Plan to the Peace Garden Board at its annual meeting, helping to support the long-term vision for this one-of-a-kind destination. 🐝

We're proud to contribute to projects that strengthen communities and help preserve places that bring people together.

The Challenge💥The City of Roseau, MN, needed a shared-use path over the Roseau River to replace the dam that had previously provided a pedestrian walkway.

The Solution💡HEI helped the City secure more than $2 million in funding for this project. After funding was secured, HEI provided design and construction services for the pedestrian bridge and shared-use path. Today, the community can enjoy a connected transportation system across the river.

Clean water starts with understanding the challenges beneath the surface. As we close out this Water Quality Month, we're highlighting the Lake Osakis Comprehensive Plan. HEI is working alongside the Sauk River Watershed District and project partners to assess sediment and nutrient sources, evaluate restoration options, and support a long-term plan to improve water quality, habitat, and lake health for future generations. 💧
