RIVERSBEND RV PARK and CAMPGROUND
Iron Mountain, Dickinson County, Michigan

ABF is in currently completing Environmental Site Assessments and potential Grant Oversight for a large RV Park and Campground located on the Menominee River just north of Iron Mountain, Michigan. A large Canadian development company is acquiring the property will continue to operate it as an RV Park and Campground. The property will be significantly improved and resources expanded to accommodate a larger customer base. Presently, activities in the area include fishing, hunting, sight-seeing, hiking, swimming, kayaking/canoeing and snowmobiling. On-site resources for the property include showers and restrooms, laundry, self-service RV wash, kayak/canoe rental, horseshoes, and a playground. The property and surrounding area have stunning natural beauty with hardwoods and open fields located on the picturesque Menominee River. The proposed redevelopment will create additional jobs in the area and greatly benefit the Iron Mountain, Michigan area.

ABF Environmental Performs Sub-Slab V***r Investigation and Depressurization:

Quarterly sub-slab v***r investigations were recently completed at a large automotive plant location in Southeast Michigan. The study was performed to determine if sub-slab v***r concentrations meet or exceed the MDEGLE VIAP criteria. The results of the sampling performed indicated sub-slab v***r concentrations in exceedance of the MDEGLE VIAP criteria for tetrachloroethene and trichloroethene, as well as numerous other compounds throughout the site.

State of Michigan guidance requires mitigation to prevent contaminated sub-slab v***rs from migrating up from the subsurface through the floor into the structure indoor breathing spaces. ABF Environmental will manage and oversee the design and installation of a sub-slab depressurization system (SSDS). The SSDS with be installed subsequent to successful pilot testing which will determine the spacing of the v***r extraction wells for the sub-slab depressurization system.

The successful installation of the SSDS will ensure hundreds of facility employees of a safe and clean breathing environment.

ABF Environmental Manages Macomb County Probate Courthouse Environmental Work and Demolition:

ABF Environmental recently completed demolition oversight of the Macomb County Probate Courthouse at 21850 Dunham Street in Mount Clemens. Macomb County no longer used the outdated building and contracted ABF Environmental to perform comprehensive demolition oversight management services. ABF provided pre-demolition asbestos and hazardous materials assessments of the structure, prepared bid documents for the removal of all hazardous materials, and provided management and asbestos air monitoring during the abatement. ABF also prepared all bid documents for the demolition of the structure and provided project management during the bid process and award contracts. ABF Environmental performed all demolition and site restoration oversight, which included OSHA Worker Health and Safety training and Fugitive Dust/Silica monitoring. The entire demolition was completed on time and on budget. The old Probate Courthouse property is now a green space and available for future Macomb County use.

ABF Environmental is currently managing a large brownfield redevelopment project for the City of Woodhaven. The property is an approximately 10-acre parcel of vacant land located west of the Allen Road and West Road intersection in Woodhaven, Michigan. ABF obtained brownfield funding from the State of Michigan for the City of Woodhaven totaling 1.6 million dollars. The proposed redevelopment will include restaurants, retail, office buildings and a city park. The amount of private investment is expected to be approximately $12,000,000. It is expected this project will create approximately 400 permanent jobs.
