Did you know that wood products make up 47% of all industrial raw materials manufactured in the U.S., but they consume only 4% of the energy required to produce those materials?

-Cement uses 5x more energy
-Glass uses 14x more energy
-Steel uses 24x more energy
-Aluminum uses 126x more energy

Missouri’s #1 Natural resource is Trees.

Plus, the forestry industry employs nearly 42,000 Missourians!

Did you know the logging and forest products industry contributes more than $10 billion annually to Missouri’s economy? Not only do wood products benefit the economy, but also homeowners.

One of the many products that comes from the forestry industry is wood floors, which can last for more than 100 years. Homeowners who install real wood floors in their homes see an average return on investment of 70 to 80%, which increases their home’s resale value.

After trees are carefully harvested, they are taken to a lumber mill to be sawed and then sent to manufacturing companies and made into products used in our everyday lives. Some of these products include charcoal, wood flooring, mulch for landscaping, furniture, whiskey barrels, and paper.

The harvested trees used for these products regenerate from stumps, sprouts, and seeds left behind after being cut.
