One of my clients in Durango, Colorado wanted to add cabinetry in a livingroom, predominantly for their kiddies toys, school supplies, etc. They wanted to incorporate a beautiful solid walnut countertop they had purchased. The design we came up with fit beautifully against their staircase and includes a mix of tall and short cabinets, a column of drawers and some shelves for books. They chose a simple white with raised panel doors and drawer fronts, with oiled rubbed bronze hardware to accent the walnut countertop. They were very please and we will be working on the next project, a small office station on the opposite wall!

A recent master closet completed in Durango. This dark, textured finish has the look of a weathered barnwood with streaks of grey and charcoal. As you enter the closet you see a double stack of wide drawers with upper closed cabinets on the back wall. To the right and left you see hanging sections and didicated shoe racks with base baskets in an oil-rubbed bronze finish. The front of the closet, flanking the entry door, are double hanging sections. A small sitting bench in the center of the room, with a pull-out basket, will be great for slipping on your shoes. A great client to work with and a winning design!

A recent Durango bedroom makeover to a very large closet in a textured Gregion Pine finish. With lots of light and tall ceilings, we were able to design features that would normally not fit in a traditional closet: Triple hanging using pulldown closet rods and a large center island with numerous pullout baskets, drawers and clothing hampers on each side. In addition, we designed designated shoe shelves with base baskets, a mix of short, medium and long hanging, a jewelry cabinet with drawer and jewelry insert, a sitting bench under the window with additional shoe storage, belt racks, a storage cabinet with doors, and general use storage shelves. The customer is loving their new closet!

A recent install in Durango in a textured white oak finish. This long, L-shaped closet was perfect for plenty of storage options, along with several accessories that made a perfect master closet in this beautiful home. Along with ample his and her hanging and shelving areas, this closet also includes drawers (two of which have velvet jewelry inserts with additional hidden space), dedicated shoe racks (one with pitched shelving), a fold-out mirror, valet rod, extra elevated storage and satin nickel hardware and rods. We worked closely with the homeowner on the design and finish and they were very pleased. I threw in a few "before" pictures so you can see what we started with.

A customer asked me to install drying racks in their laundry room. Drying racks? Of course I had to research what these were and figure out how to build them. I did find them on the internet, however I did not like the designs I came across and thought there must be a better way to build these. After considerable thought, and a few failed approaches that did not satisfy my criteria for a clean, attractive, functional and simple approach, this is what I ended up with. My customer loved them!

Farmington homeowners were doing a significant remodel of their home and asked me to help with their pantry. They wanted plenty of varied-size storage with amenities including pullout trays and baskets and sheet pan dividers, allowing room for a full size refrigerator, a large wine cooler and room for tall items to be stored beneath the shelving. They chose a white finish to brighten the look in this space. They liked the baskets so much they added 3 more after the pictures were taken! They were very satisfied with the completed pantry and subsequently had me remodel 2 closets and install a Murphy bed!

The homeowners added an excellent space to their beautiful home; a large walk-in closet. They asked if I would work with them in the design of this space. After lots of ideas were discussed and several design modifications made, the clients agreed on this design and finish; a symmetrically inspired his and hers space in a sycamore finish. They share opposite walls with matching drawer and hamper cabinetry, one with a pullout ironing board. They each have abundant hanging and shelving areas, including dedicated shoe shelves, and several pullout baskets. The back wall has additional drawers and a pullout basket. The walls and carpet were finished to enhance the cabinetry. The customers were very pleased.

Here's some photos of a not-quite-finished master closet in knotty alder. It has an unusual feature. The beams in the closet are 7 feet above the floor, a few inches shy of what is recommended for a double hanging segment. So in the hanging section, we built all of the hanging elements between the beams and placed shelving beneath the beams. The other side of the closet (drawers, doors, shoe shelves, laundry hamper and baskets) came together much easily! I think the look is spectacular. The clients couldn't have been happier!

I have been busy of late and thought I would show you some of these projects I've been working on since last fall. Here is a garage project completed in a brushed steel look, a great finish for a garage. The customer wanted storage along the full length of one wall of the garage, and the back as well. They were looking for lots of protected storage (doors and drawers), a bit of open shelving and a workbench. I designed the space with 3 different tall cabinet widths to accommodate lots of dimensional variation, different drawers sizes, suspended everything on legs in case of any water intrusion,all of which came together with a nice clean look. I am very thankful to this customer who has called me back several times for new projects.

I completed this nice walk-in closet a few months back in a new home north of Mancos, CO. It has a sycamore finish and includes amenities such as his and her sides, mixed-length hanging, dedicated shoe shelves, drawers and a laundry hamper. The customer chose sycamore to match the woodwork in the rest of the home. They did a magnificant job!

One of my Farmington clients asked if I could build a headboard for her son and footboard for her daughter. We worked together on the designs (the kid's were the chief engineers of course!) and I have to say they did a remarkable job! The headboard, in a sycamore finish, has upper sliding doors with shelving and side shelves as well. The footboard, in a maple finish, doubles as a desk with side shelves which are accessible from the front and back, lower shelving with doors and a drop-down desk. Mom and kids have given their stamp of approval!
