HEADS UP FOLKS: New FAA TFR rules with 'bite' on the way.

NEW: It's now a Federal Misdemeanor for flying during a TFR. This information was received by the original posting author from his DHS contact, who sometimes asks him to share out info on his Instagram feed due to his local reach in a populated area.

The existing FAA civil penalties include fines upwards of $75,000, have their Part 107 certificate suspended or revoked. However, Flying into or launching in a TFR is now considered a Federal Misdemeanor (federal crime) and comes with its own penalties. It has the potential to be a “Wobbler” (misdemeanor becomes a felony) as well depending on the circumstances.
