We’re currently framing up this custom stick-built man cave, and this one was the right fit for traditional framing instead of post frame.

A lot of people ask: “When should I choose stick frame over post frame?”

Here’s the simple breakdown:

Stick Frame is the better choice when:
• You want a fully insulated, climate-controlled space
• You’re planning drywall finishes inside
• You may add plumbing, HVAC, or a bathroom
• You want it to feel like part of your home
• You’re building on a crawlspace or basement
• You want future flexibility for finishing or expanding

Stick framing gives you tighter wall cavities, easier mechanical runs, and that true “house feel” inside.

Post Frame is great when:
• You want large open spans
• You’re keeping it more utility-focused
• Budget per square foot is a priority
• It’s primarily storage or shop space

There’s no “one size fits all.”
