Another cedar chest in the books. 41”x20”x20” made with a 1x10” tongue and groove cedar. Stained with a natural iron oxide (vinegar+steel wool) and finished with a wood wax. I’m super happy with how this all turned out and got to use my new wood planer which cut down the material costs.

Fence gates are often an issue for many folks. The original gate was not square and dragged on the ground because it was sagging. I built and painted this one off-site and then installed for the customer. Building off-site allows for less mess at a customers house and an easier way to paint and finish when we’re in the rainy season.

Sometimes I get time to make something special for my family. This year I made a toy box for my nephews out of cedar boards. I made sure to put a soft close on the lid so they don’t slam fingers. It’s my first one and I’m happy with it.

The mantle was installed today at my customers house. They were thrilled and even shared some homemade confections and jam with me. The rain made painting a challenge but I got it all finished for them before Christmas. This is my first built-in mantle piece. I realized I really like building stuff at home because I can take my time and be more creative.

This is the second project I’ve worked on from home. This is a custom mantle and matching bookshelf piece that I’ll be painting shortly. The customer wanted a bigger mantle and for this to be flanked with two larger bookcases to mimic a built it.

I replaced all of the shelving (originally MDF that was warped) with 3/4 maple with pine faces, painted with Benjamin Moore Advance and installed. I also built a faux wall for the picture tv to move it to the forefront above the fireplace. I built all of it offsite and it fit like a glove. Another fun carpentry project in the books.

Our food banks are in need of more resources to feed our communities during these times. I know that economically, times are hard, but sparing even $10 and/or non-perishable food can really help. It takes a village, and we all need to come together to help our fellow neighbors. We proudly give to the Ferndale Food Bank.

I finally figured out how to do dovetails and made this kitchen cabinet drawer for a customer. They brought me a completely broken drawer and I was able to salvage the front and the slides and create a new box that is much stronger.

New oil on a 20 year old Ironwood deck looks almost new. This is my last deck restore of the season since the rain is on the way. Another repeat customer in the books.

I updated this deck that I did last year with Trex to match the back deck I finished this summer. Same color as the old deck but little to no maintenance. Another repeat customer in the books.

I installed new decking and railings for a customer who happens to be a long time friend of mine. I got some help on this one which made it go faster. 665 sqft deck with 36” railing. This one was supposed to be a refinish but too much was rotten on the old deck so we went for a replacement with 5/4x6” cedar. Smells like success 😁.

This was a fun one. A customer of mine had these wine boxes from Italy and wanted me to make a matching end table to another end table they already had made. This is my first furniture piece for a customer. It was a fun build.
