The city of Sedona and their contractor, Eagle Mountain Construction, are currently working on the Shelby Drive Roadway Improvements Project. The project consists of installing new storm drain, sewer main, and water main along Shelby Drive, from just south of Stanley Steamer Drive to Sunset Drive. Additional work includes the installation of new asphalt pavement, curb and gutter, a shared-use path on the north side of Shelby Drive, and the reconstruction of driveway entrances along the project corridor.

STORM DRAIN SYSTEM INSTALLATION ONGOING

Crews will continue constructing a new storm drain system along Shelby Drive, just west of the Finley Drive intersection, throughout the week.

Please be aware of the following impacts:

Tuesday, September 7 through Friday, September 10, 7 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Shelby Drive will be closed between Vince’s Autobody and Carstar of Sedona. Please be aware of lane restrictions, temporary street and driveway closures, reduced speeds, rough road conditions, loud noise, and flagging operations.

STREET PARKING AND ACCESS

Properties located east of Vince’s Autobody will be accessed via Sunset Drive. Properties located west of Vince’s Autobody will be accessed via Shelby Drive. To avoid conflicts with construction equipment and expedite completion of the project, the city asks that you avoid on-street parking while work is underway. Driveway access will be maintained as best as possible; however, full closures may be necessary and access may alter on a day-to-day basis. Personnel will work to maintain access and will communicate alternate means of ingress and egress throughout the project.

In observance of the Labor Day holiday, no work will be performed on Monday, September 6. Work will be performed Tuesday, September 7, through Friday, September 10.

NAVAJO ROAD, FROM FORT VALLEY ROAD THROUGH THE HOPI DRIVE INTERSECTION (CONSTRUCTION ZONE 1)

• Utility, roadway and landscape improvements are complete.
• Sign installation will take place at a later date.

Please be aware of the following traffic impacts:

Tuesday, September 7 through Friday, September 10, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.
• Navajo Road is now open; however, please be aware of temporary shoulder closures and flagging operations.
NAVAJO DRIVE, FROM HOPI DRIVE TO BEAL ROAD (CONSTRUCTION ZONE 2)

• Utility and roadway improvements are complete.
• Sign installation and miscellaneous landscape restorations remain.
• Storm drain cleaning operations within the Rio de Flag will begin.

Please be aware of the following traffic impacts:

Tuesday, September 7 through Friday, September 10, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.
• Navajo Drive will be closed to thru traffic while work is underway.
BEAL ROAD, FROM WEST OF ROCKRIDGE ROAD TO FORT VALLEY ROAD (CONSTRUCTION ZONE 3)
• The installation of sewer, water, and storm drain infrastructure is complete between the Rio de Flag bridge and Fort Valley Road.
• Subgrade preparation will continue, between the Rio de Flag bridge and Fort Valley Road, in advance of paving operations.
• With inclement weather delaying paving operations, asphalt paving is now set to occur on Wednesday and Thursday. Following paving, crews will be adjusting utility covers to the finished road grade.
• The installation of sidewalks and driveway entrances will resume, between the Beal/Navajo intersection and Fort Valley Road, following paving operations.

Please be aware of the following traffic impacts:

Tuesday, September 7 through Friday, September 10, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.
• Beal Road, from Aztec Street to Fort Valley Road, is closed to thru traffic.
• The intersections of Beal Road and Navajo Drive will be closed to all traffic throughout the week, including the weekend.
• Vehicular property access along Beal Road will be restricted while paving operations are occurring, please plan accordingly. Access will be restored following paving operations. If you need to drive during this restricted access time, we advise parking your vehicle outside of the improvements area. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.
• The southbound lane along Fort Valley Road will be shifted while paving operations are underway in the Fort Valley Road/Beal intersection. Additionally, the bike lane and FUTS trail on the west side of Fort Valley Road will be closed

• Utility improvements are complete. The majority of roadway and concrete improvements are finished, with the exception of the work below.
• Final pavement markings and landscape restorations remain.

Please be aware of the following traffic impacts:

Monday, July 12 through Thursday, July 15, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.
• Navajo Drive will be closed to thru traffic while work is underway.
BEAL ROAD, FROM WEST OF ROCKRIDGE ROAD TO FORT VALLEY ROAD (CONSTRUCTION ZONE 3)
• The installation of sewer, water, and storm drain infrastructure is complete between the Rio de Flag Bridge and Fort Valley Road.
• Testing operations on the newly installed water main will continue throughout the week.
• Installation of underground electric lines for streetlights, from the Navajo/Beal intersection to Fort Valley Road, continues.
• Concrete sidewalk, driveway entrance, and curb and gutter installation is ongoing between the Beal/Navajo intersection and Fort Valley Road.

Please be aware of lane restrictions, temporary street and driveway closures, reduced speeds, rough road conditions, loud noise and flagging operations. Finley Drive will be accessed via Shelby Drive. Businesses located east of the Finley Drive intersection should use the marked detour signage for access.
