Pedro the Fleetwood Tiger Makes His Debut! 🐯
On a beautiful Friday afternoon, August 21, 2026, “Pedro the Fleetwood Tiger” made his debut at Berks Surveying & Engineering, Inc. (BSE) in Fleetwood, PA. A festive crowd of approximately 30 employees, friends, family, and neighbors gathered at 311 East Main Street to celebrate the unveiling.
Professional Fleetwood artist and illustrator Kathi Ember was commissioned by BSE owner Rob Hain to design and paint Pedro. For more than 40 years, Kathi has been a popular muralist and children’s book illustrator known for her “love of animals, sense of humor, whimsy, and penchant for storytelling.”
Kathi enthusiastically embraced the challenge, spending many hours refining her design and experimenting with paints to create a one-of-a-kind tiger featuring land surveying elements—including a stylized map of Fleetwood Borough and a surveyor’s compass rose.
“The colors really pop, and the design reflects Kathi’s joie de vivre,” says her friend, Cindy Hogan, Office Manager at BSE. “It was fun to watch her work and see Pedro come alive.”
Pedro is one of several custom-painted, life-sized tiger sculptures being installed throughout Fleetwood Borough as part of the “Tiger Nation” community art project organized around the borough’s milestone anniversary. Businesses and residents can sponsor an unpainted tiger and have it creatively designed, painted, clear-coated, and displayed at their home or business.
