At SJI, we’re proud to provide opportunities to help support the next generation of energy professionals.

Our internship program officially began in June, marking the start of an exciting summer of learning, collaboration, and professional growth. The fully immersive program provides students with the opportunity to gain real-world experience, participate in networking events, build relationships, and learn from industry professionals in a variety of departments.

Throughout the summer, our interns have had the opportunity to meet with leaders across SJI, gaining valuable insight into their career journeys, learning more about their roles, and hearing firsthand why they chose to join the organization. Thanks to all our interns for joining us this summer!

We’re proud to share that South Jersey Gas, a subsidiary of SJI, was recently named to the BINJE’s Best: Commercial Real Estate Leaders list! This recognition celebrates the best in commercial real estate across New Jersey.

In 2018, SJI brought the South Jersey Gas headquarters back to Atlantic City, in a thirteen-story tower at 1 South Jersey Place, right along the boardwalk. The 75,000-square-foot building represents more than just a place for employees to work – it’s also helped to ensure South Jersey Gas can continue to meet the demand of its 430,000 customers and has also broadened the company’s reach and community partnerships.

For the 4th year in a row, our Emerging Leaders Employee Resource Group (ERG) partnered with The Arc of Atlantic & Union Counties for two impactful events centered around education and fun!

Emerging Leaders proudly welcomed individuals from The Arc of Atlantic County to SJI’s corporate headquarters in Atlantic City. The group enjoyed a tour of our facility and learned about the SJI customer experience from Customer Experience Senior Directors Diana Donnelly and Brian Jacobs. Participants also created star-spangled wind chimes and enjoyed snacks on the top deck overlooking the beach. At The Arc of Union County of Union County, SJI volunteers assisted program members with creating thoughtful and unique vision boards. The event concluded with each individual presenting their vision board and sharing future goals.

A special thank you to our Emerging Leaders co-chairs Krystle Fatzinger, Gabriel Sanchez, Adam Silverberg, executive sponsor Krystle Straus, and all our employee volunteers who participated in the events!

In recognition of National 811 Day yesterday, we were proud to partner with the New Jersey Common Ground Alliance (NJCGA) to spotlight this important message. A plane carrying an “811” banner circled our Atlantic City office, giving employees that chance to watch from our rooftop terrace.

By law, homeowners and contractors are required to dial 811 at least three full business days before digging – whether installing a mailbox, building a deck, planting a tree, or laying a patio. When dialing 811, callers connect to New Jersey One Call, the state center that notifies the appropriate utility companies of the caller’s intent to dig. Professional locators are then sent to the proposed digging site to mark the approximate locations of underground lines with flags or spray paint.

A special thank you to BINJE for highlighting our Earth Day efforts! Last week, South Jersey Gas and Elizabethtown Gas, two subsidiaries of SJI, provided resources and supported local communities through a series of cleanup volunteer efforts. In addition to their volunteer activities, SJI and its employees committed to pledging more than $40,000, which included a dollar-for-dollar company match, to The Nature Conservancy this year as part of the company’s Employee Giving Campaign.

SJI recently hosted a celebration to honor our Employee Resource Groups and reflect on the successes and achievements from the past year. The event included presentations from each ERG, a lunch, and networking. At SJI, our Employee Resource Groups play a critical role in fostering a culture of inclusion and belonging for all. Open to all employees, our ERGs are vital, volunteer-led employee groups that significantly enhance employee engagement and promote an inclusive, collaborative workplace.

In celebration of Earth Day, South Jersey Gas and Elizabethtown Gas, subsidiaries of SJI, provided resources and supported local communities through a series of volunteer cleanup efforts.

The Green Team, an SJI Employee Resource Group, continued its mission of empowering employees to support and create a sustainable environment through a series of volunteer opportunities in the communities we serve.

On April 16, the Green Team partnered with the NJA Stewardship Staff at the Nature Center of Cape May to help remove invasive plants, plant herbs and flowers, and pick up litter along the shoreline. The Green Team also collaborated with colleagues at the company’s Folsom and Atlantic City locations for “Petals in Pipes,” planting using repurposed natural gas pipe, recycled from South Jersey Gas. Employees from SJI will also be participating in a cleanup effort organized by Elizabeth City.
