With the recent warm weather I was able to spend a bit of time reconditioning an old and broken down hoop-house. Twisted wood posts were straightened, broken wood frame replaced. Metal purlins added along with three top side roof vents. Additional wood framed end wall windows all controlled with non-electric openers keep the interior temperatures regulated. Finally we replaced the old 6-mil cover and applied a new ripstop 10-mil woven poly cover that is hail proof and outlasts thin covers.

Permitting a Greenhouse

A woman in Divide Colorado wanting to help her community, by growing food and creating a more sustainable food economy, tried working with the county prior to her greenhouse build. Construction of her greenhouse occurred after she spoke with a Teller County Building Official that provided her a verbal "ok" to build the structure. Things didn't go as planned and her greenhouse journey abruptly ended with several stop work orders and a finally an order to remove the greenhouse structure entirely.

We ensure that gardeners and farmers in Colorado get safe and legal greenhouses so you can prevent this garden tragedy.

We have been building sub-irrigated raised beds and planters for some time. I have been blessed to be able to own some myself and growing in them is a care free experience. The outdoor raised beds in the photo were built in two phases with years in between the two sets; being able to visit these established beds I discovered that native toads have "moved in". The soil stays consistently moist at the bottom of the beds and consequently has created the perfect moist habitat for burrowing toads. In the Garden, the carnivorous toads eat earwigs, slugs, snails, grasshoppers, ants, flies and beetles. Supplying habitat for resident toads can be a challenge in our dry climate and toad habitat is just one more benefit of sub-irrigated beds.

Here is a 4 season greenhouse we reconditioned at Greeley West High school on the Colorado plains. Weld county schools have continued to support agricultural education and we would like to thank Greeley school system for continuing to involve us with their greenhouse needs.

Here is our latest greenhouse creation. This 8' x 12' backyard sized model has a ample space for hanging plants, a footed concrete pad that includes a center floor drain, our standard ventilation package and space to grow.

Spring is near! We are two short weeks away from the 2025 spring equinox and warmer days.

We are back to business this year and are currently scheduling work.

We have just completed a greenhouse build and installation in Breckenridge, CO. This greenhouse included two full length insulated sub-irrigated raised beds, full length walkway, a strong 220V heater and automatic vent windows.
