UCI Paints

UCI Paints Manufacturing architectural coatings specifically for South Florida's tropical climate since 1970.

UCI Paints was a dream of founder, Sy Devick, who began manufacturing Lacquers and other industrial coatings in East Patterson, New Jersey. The lure of living in Florida with its warm tropical climate convinced Sy to pick up and move his family to South Florida in 1969. As a paint manufacturer up north, he knew he needed a different chemical composition for his paints to combat the mildew, algae, and tropical climate that he wanted to live in.

Rihanna has been refreshingly candid about her approach to motherhood, famously stating that she chose not to hire a nanny when she first brought her son home in 2022. The singer explained that after waiting 35 years to become a mother, she didn't want to "outsource" the experience or let someone else raise her children. Now a mother of three—after welcoming her daughter, Rocki, in September 2025—Rihanna continues to prioritize being present for the "legendary" and often exhausting moments of parenting, from the sleepless "zombie" nights to the joy of seeing her children's faces change every morning. While she acknowledges that balancing a global empire with hands-on parenting is a constant "head-f***," she remains firm in her belief that the personal sacrifice is worth the direct bond she is building with her growing family.

In New Zealand’s Parliament, a rare moment unfolded when Labour MP Tamati Coffey returned from paternity leave with his one-month-old son, Tūtānekai.
The baby, born through surrogacy, was with him during a live parliamentary session. As proceedings continued, the child needed attention. Instead of stepping out, Coffey walked over to Speaker Trevor Mallard and handed him the baby.
What followed was unexpected but seamless.
Mallard took the child, cradled him comfortably, and continued overseeing the session without interruption. At one point, he even fed the baby with a bottle while maintaining order in the chamber. The moment blended routine governance with something far more personal.
The room stayed focused, but the atmosphere shifted. There was a quiet acknowledgment of what was happening, something uncommon in such a formal setting.
Later, Mallard shared a photo of the moment, referring to the baby as a “VIP” who joined him in the Speaker’s chair. The image quickly spread, drawing attention from around the world.
Beyond the moment itself, it reflected a broader shift. Mallard had previously introduced changes to make Parliament more family-friendly, and this became a visible example of that effort in action.
It showed that even in the most structured environments, there is space for humanity.

If your child has to check the "weather" of your mood before they approach you, they aren't learning respect — they’re learning survival.

We often think our big reactions are a sign of high standards, but they actually just create distance. When we become a person our children have to "handle," we stop being their source of safety and start being a second problem they have to solve. They shouldn't have to wait for the "right time" to tell you the truth.

The goal of being the adult in the room is to be the person they can come to when they’ve messed up, not the person they avoid until they’ve fixed it. If they feel they have to perform for your approval or tip-toe around your temper, the connection is already compromised.

True authority is found in our ability to stay steady when they are falling apart. It’s providing a landing spot that doesn't shift based on how frustrated or tired we feel.

They don't need a parent who is perfect. They need a parent who is predictable.

Let’s make sure they don’t have to manage us, and be the ones who manage the moment — so they don't have to. ❤️
