You have until the end of 2023 to go solar before the ITC ramps down from 26%, to 23%, to possibly nothing. This is free money from the IRS to go solar. We cannot stress enough that this is free money to go solar! If you wait much longer you are simply going to miss out. Don’t expect the ITC to be renewed again, industry experts expect it to go away forever.

Florida residents who purchase solar can also take advantage of the federal tax credit*(26% Credit) .The federal tax credit, formally known as the Solar Investment Tax Credit (SITC), provides qualified home and business owners a tax credit for the purchase of solar. In other words, a home or business owner can offset the cost of their solar panel system using the tax credit. You have 6 more months until the Feds reduce the FTC down to 22%. Florida Power and Light’s net metering program allows homeowners to install and connect solar energy systems to the grid and receive credit for the energy produced by their systems. FPL allows customers to install systems meeting up to 115 percent of their current energy need. Customers’ credits will be applied to their energy bill, and FPL and will provide monetary compensation for any extra credits not used over the course of the year in January.

The Florida Solar Energy Industry Association estimates that over the next five years, Florida homeowners, businesses and utilities are projected to take advantage of the falling prices and install 2,315 megawatts of solar electric capacity — 19 times more than the amount of solar installed in the last five years.
