The Home Energy Rating System ( ) measures a home’s energy efficiency. A certified Home Energy Rater assesses the energy efficiency of a home, assigning it a performance score. The lower the number, the more energy-efficient the home is, with the average reference home scoring about 100. Variables considered in this test include all exterior walls, ceilings, attics, crawl spaces, windows and more. Not only is this a great reference to help determine next steps for your home's energy usage, but it also can impact resale price!
