National Safe Boating Week 2026 🚤

Some of the best boating safety habits start before the boat ever leaves the dock. As we head into another busy summer boating season here in Southwest Florida, a few waterfront reminders worth checking off your list:

⚓️ Don't overload your boat on the lift — excess weight stresses cables, bunks, and lift components over time.

⚓️️ Always stay with and observe your lift during operation — confirm upper and lower limit auto-stop systems are set properly to avoid overtravel damage.

⚓️ Inspect dock boards for soft spots, loose fasteners, uneven surfaces — all common trip hazards.

⚓️ Make sure you have a dock ladder that's secure, accessible, and easy to access in a hurry — if someone goes in unexpectedly you are prepared.

⚓️ Check handrails for stability, especially with kids, guests, or older adults around.

⚓️ Check behind your seawall for erosion, voids, or soft spots — these can develop quietly and become fall hazards.

⚓️ Inspect canopy frames — and have a removal plan ready for storm season. We recommend taking canopies down when winds or gusts are forecast above 70 mph to avoid structural damage or injury.

A safe waterfront protects your investment — but more importantly, it protects the people enjoying it with you.

Dominique and Hunter Stokes had the opportunity to attend today’s Gulf red snapper season announcement in Fort Myers and represent as a member of Coastal Conservation Association Florida!

Great news for Gulf Coast anglers and families, Florida’s summer red snapper season will open Memorial Day weekend beginning May 22 and run consecutively through July 31, including Father’s Day and July 4th weekend. Additional fall and winter fishing opportunities were also announced.

We appreciate the continued efforts of Ron DeSantis, Executive Director Roger Young, and the FWC staff in expanding opportunities for Florida’s recreational anglers and outdoor community.

Building something that’s made to last, in one of Sanibel’s most beloved places.

We’re currently installing the 228-foot Bailey Tract Boardwalk at J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge (Official) — part of a larger project that includes four independent structures designed to enhance access throughout the preserve.

This particular boardwalk is being constructed using PermaTrak Concrete Boardwalk Systems, paired with composite pilings from Creative Composites Group, selected for their durability and performance in coastal environments.

Systems like this are engineered for long-term use in high-moisture, marine conditions, offering increased longevity, reduced maintenance, and a more resilient solution for areas like this.

Projects like this come down to experience — understanding how to work with specialized materials, how to navigate sensitive environments, and execute with precision.

This portion of the project is still in progress, we’re looking forward to sharing the additional phases and the finished results soon!
