Ian is expected to become a major hurricane — meaning Category 3 or stronger, with winds of at least 111 miles per hour — as soon as Monday night when it nears Cuba, forecasters said. Its winds on Monday afternoon were 85 m.p.h.

On Tuesday, Ian is expected to move into the Gulf of Mexico, follow a course west of the Florida Keys late on Tuesday, and approach the west coast of Florida on Wednesday. 🇺🇸
