To our Valued Customer Partners,
SPECIAL ALERT! – Iran’s Attacks on Gulf Aluminum Plants will Threaten the Aluminum Supply Chain in the US
Iran’s weekend strikes on Persian Gulf aluminum plants are threatening to send an already fragile market into crisis, raising the prospect of record prices for Aluminum.
The Middle East accounts for about 9% of global production, but its impact is being amplified because constraints on output elsewhere have eroded inventories, leaving the market with little buffer to cushion any shocks. Even before the industry became a direct target, the closure of the Strait of Hormuz had left the Middle East’s smelters running short of key inputs, and the industry had been bracing for a cascading series of production cuts in coming weeks. Historically, 19% of the Aluminum imported into the US comes from this region.
EMS has been made aware of possible supply interruptions starting in the May – June timeframe. Our vendors’ billet sourcing is diversified geographically, but a decline in overall supply will have broad implications. As mentioned in previous communications, market volatility may increase depending on the duration and scope of regional instability.
• The Midwest Aluminum price today is up 30% over the December 2025 average.
• The Midwest Aluminum price is up $0.20/lb over the last three days alone.
Based on these increases, Aluminum prices for finished Sheet and Extrusions will increase by at least 10%-15% over the course of the next 30-60 days, depending on the product type.
For existing contracts and open orders, pricing will be honored according to the terms in effect at the time of the order. However, all new orders shipped after April 1st will see a price increase. You should expect increases throughout the month as we restock with higher priced inventory. Also, please understand we only order for our current demand, so we will not be able to honor orders above historical monthly levels. Your EMS salesperson will continue to work with you on an order-by-order basis.
We understand that these unprecedented times and rising raw material costs can impact your business. We want to assure you that, as the leading Value Add Wholesale Aluminum distributor in the US, we take seriously our responsibility to communicate these changes in the market. We will continue to work hard to limit the impact on our loyal partners.
Our goal is to be your Preferred and Most Trusted Resource for high quality aluminum product Solutions.
Should you have any questions or need further information, please do not hesitate to contact your EMS representative.
