When is the best time to stock fish? 🐟

The safest time would have to be in the fall and spring months. The cooler temperatures and higher oxygen levels are factors that allow for an easier transition. Stocking fish in more extreme temperatures can potentially be hazardous and risky to a fish’s long-term wellbeing.

Use 20% or 30% Vinegar to clean up his stains and eliminate smells from your rug or carpet. Blot the area and use 1 part Vinegar to 2 parts of water. Blot again until it is mostly dry. Sprinkle some baking soda over top and vacuum it up the next day.

Late season pond growth will look a little different than spring/summer pond growth. You may see some spots of algae, but by now most algae should have been controlled with consecutive copper treatments and continued use of pond dye and pond bacteria.

Some submerged w**ds may appear in early spring and can last into the fall. As temperatures drop, your submerged w**d growth will remain but will become calcified. You will want to stop treatments of submerged w**d growth if your w**ds are calcified. The w**ds will not absorb any more product and you will likely be wasting valuable time and money.

Now that it is officially the fall season, we are nearing the time when pond care starts to shift from curative to preventative treatment.

Curative treatment is like getting medication to treat an illness. Prevention is taking steps to hopefully prevent illness, like washing hands, eating right etc. You don’t just stop your prevention habits when you are sick!

Pond maintenance is similar. You use curative treatments like copper sulfate and pond herbicides when you get growth and continue use of preventative pond maintenance like using pond dye and pond bacteria. When water temps dip below 40°F, pause your curative treatments and continue full force with pond dye and pond bacteria applications.
