Closing out Lupus Awareness Month with a throwback purple pic. 💜

As both a scientist and advocate, lupus awareness is more than a month on the calendar for me. Every day, I have the privilege of studying the links between lupus, inflammation, high blood pressure, and kidney disease while working toward better treatments and outcomes for patients.

Today, I’m honoring the strength of those living with lupus, the families who support them, and the researchers, clinicians, and advocates dedicated to finding answers.

Awareness matters. Research matters. Patients matter.

Happy Holidays from the Mathis Lab!!

We enjoyed the holiday season and sharing our favorite things, including eating lunch together!! Everything was so nice!

As we close out the year, we are proud of our progress. The lab has come along great! Take a look! We are also proud of Paromita for being our ‘Goal Digger’ for 2025. That means she accomplished the most team goals on the MatLab BinGoals game we started early in the year.

This week we are challenging ourselves to write new attainable goals, both personally and for the team. We will keep pushing in 2026!
We’re speaking it… it will be a productive year for us!!

I have learned so much about large conference programming through this committee. A lot goes into planning Kidney Week, and the ASN has a masterful team to get it done. Grateful for the experience.
