Our leadership team spent the week in Washington DC representing Texas Sheep & Goat Raisers Assn. We met with congressional office representatives about issues and opportunities facing the small ruminant industry and solar grazing. A busy time in the capital, yet dozens of offices made time to sit down and talk. They all listened to our needs and optimistic that action will be taken to help the security of our industries.

What do sheep eat in the winter? Winter weeds and other cool season plants that emerge in the cooler months. Driving past the site, you’ll probably miss the green under story of annual weeds hidden under the dormant summer grasses. They are highly nutritious and sheep thrive on them. Many of these weeds can be a real problem when spring time comes but with proper management most of these weeds can be managed with sheep before a small problem becomes a utility scale nightmare.
