Welcome back to the Making Space Podcast! In Season 1 and 2, hosts Benjamin Windle and Jay Kim explored how physical spaces shape our spiritual formation and discipleship, both in church spaces and outside of them.

Now in Season 3, they are joined by a new co-host, Sara Joy Proppe to continue these conversations with various leaders. Together, they explore how church spaces and architecture intersect with a sense of transcendence, community, prayer and formation.

Aspen is expanding across the US to ensure that each of our regions is served well! Our designers find themselves located in different states, so it is important that they feel connected, cared for, and comfortable with one another. A few times every year, we gather the design team in one space to connect deeply on personal and professional levels! Check out some of these highlights from our Design Event last month!

At College Park Church, one of the amazing features of this outdoor space is the massive wood beams in the portico! When the church prayed over this space, they invited the congregation to write their names on the hidden portions of the beams. Aspen is thankful we got to see this project happen in such a meaningful way! Thanks for being incredible clients, College Park Church!

We're excited to introduce our new Regional Executive Director in Texas, Mike Foltynski!

Aspen Group is proud of the meaningful partnerships we've already formed in Texas including Christ Chapel South Campus in Burleson, where we completed an exciting project in 2022, and Grace Fellowship Church in Paradise, where construction is beginning this fall. Now we're excited to build on that presence — using our decades of experience, both as church builders and congregation members.

Leading this expansion is Mike Foltynski. Mike is passionate about helping churches maximize their ministry impact, and he understands the value of leading this process in an integrated and thoughtful way. Mike has experienced the challenges that arise during construction projects, so he set out to learn new ways to design and build church space—methods that are collaborative and results-based, focused on the overall success of the project. That's how he found Aspen, and trust us, you're going to love getting to know him.

He joins us from Gateway Church in Dallas where he led operations for their ten campuses as well as design and construction initiatives totaling over $90M. Born in Poland, Mike moved to the U.S. as a child and played college basketball at the University of Nebraska in Omaha, where he studied business management before earning his MBA. He now lives in the Dallas area with his wife and their two children, and he can't wait to work with you on creating a space that meets your church's needs.
