New master bath renovation in Moon Township! We worked with interior designer Greg Piccini to expand and modernize what was starting to feel rather dated (and starting to leak/fall apart!).

With this one we were able to:
- combine the existing bathroom with an adjacent closet to nearly double the footprint
- add a second sink (and separate vanity space)
- double the size of the shower and add a linear drain to reduce grout lines
- add a heated floor using 48" x 48" tiles for a grand total of 5 grout lines through the entire room/shower
- add a suntube through the roof
- add ample storage with multiple medicine cabinets and a full-height pantry cabinet

This frigid cold has me feeling a bit of cabin fever. Even something as small as trimming a door to length is soooo much easier when you have some elbow room outdoors. The closest thing we have to a cut station at the moment is some poor soul's Prius engulfed by a snow drift on 38th street. I'm looking forward to some sun (and better parking).

Once the weather breaks, we'll be doing a mudroom addition in Shadyside and a third floor addition in Lawrenceville. Just gotta wait for the weather to cooperate and plans to be finalized!

Did you know you can put under cabinet lighting INSIDE your backsplash??

(To be fair we're maybe bending the rules on what is considered backsplash here, given that it's actually a stone ledge on top of a stone splash. But itt counts, right?)

To achieve this look, we designed the kitchen with the countertops continuing up the walls, rather than installing a typical tile splash. After a few iterations of dialing in the cabinets, we landed on adding about a 4" ledge to the top of the splash, giving a nice little spot for storage/display, while also opening up the possibility of this fun detail.

Our friends over at Primo Marble And Granite did a great job of routing out a channel inside the small shelf that allowed our electricians to then tuck away their low voltage lighting.

The end result is consistent lighting across an otherwise eclectic and layered space.

There's something very special about projects where an entire floor is brought into scope. It gives the opportunity to create a cohesive feel across every room while adding little moments and themes to catch your eye along the way.

The white oak floors carry throughout each room, stepping down to a herringbone sunken living room. Arched niches and zellige tile pop up across three rooms. A newly refinished staircase and railings replace the tired, clashing honey oak of the 90s with a sleek white and black palette.

Holistic and cohesive. Work like this takes tons of planning and coordination, but when it all comes together, the finished product is just a pleasure to spend time around.

I blinked, and it's December already(!) Time to hang Christmas decorations, break out the flannels, and cozy up to the beginning of the winter season.

December is typically a pretty slow month for new leads and estimating, but things ramp up right away after the first of the year. We're already starting to book jobs for spring and early summer, so if you're considering a new bathroom / kitchen, or something larger like this whole first floor we remodeled in Squirrel Hill, now is the time to start those conversations. (Also, fun fact - a typical bathroom remodel often takes 8-10 weeks worth of design and planning work before we even start swinging a hammer. So don't wait until the last minute)

Finally, big thanks to for recommending us on this job, as well as our team of trade partners and subcontractors who made it possible!

This kitchen (and the whole first floor plus stairs) stole the top spot of "most photogenic project". Like, c'mon, I kind of want to submit this one to a magazine. So happy with how the finished came out!

Zach worked as both Designer and PM on this one, working off a google doc that was literally dozens of pages long with notes on every detail.

Tariffs almost pulled the plug on our beautiful white oak floors, but thankfully our sales rep was able to time the order just right and save a solid $5k import fee (it's been a fun year, hasn't it, folks?). Did you notice that the sunken living room is herringbone?

For cabinetry, we worked with our long-time friends at Andy's Woodworking to create an absolutely timeless kitchen. Gold tones are having a moment, and the unlacquared brass really shines--yes, pun intended.

And finally, a custom bar with floating shelves and arched opening. More photos to come.... Andy beat me to the punch with most of the highlights, but don't worry, I've got a handful more photos on the way!

(Bonus pic of the happy customer at the end too, btw 😉)

Bathroom 2 of 2 from Squirrel Hill:

Different room, same fun personalities making tile selections. Here, we continued the motif of soft white subway tile, gold fixtures, and walnut accents. This fun little space is going to be great for the kids!

Bathroom 1 of 2 recently completed in Squirrel Hill.

Though the layout didn't change, the vibe certainly did! We peeled back the failing tile installed decades ago, raised the ceiling height, and gave it a fresh new look that better fits the homeowners' personalities.

I'll admit, I was a little surprised when the homeowners suggested blue fish scales on the back wall, but they certainly won me over!

(Shout-out to Ash for some excellent tile work, btw)
